Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

I won’t be invested any longer

I don’t want to be dragged into office politics. I don’t want to constantly worry about layoffs. I don’t want to care about how things will unfold at Nike anymore. I’m tired of spending my weekends just trying to shake off the stress, anxiety, and exhaustion that build up during the workweek. I don’t want this company to have control over my time, my emotional state, or my physical wellbeing any longer.

Agree! We have leaders that are “protected” & an entire HR system protecting the wrong people. Speaking up is a waste of time and that’s known across the company. HR protects the company! Morale and mental health don’t matter to Nike.

OP I feel you, so so do. That was my life. Wish you the best in "detaching your mental state" from work.

Sadly though @ar+1 is breaking down the reality of it all and is right. Sometimes the grass isn't greener elsewhere and is also full of weeds.

Short of "magically getting rich" you are beholden to your corporate employer overlords pretty much anywhere.

But all that said keep working on your mental state, life is too short for that kind of misery.

gotta go all Finding Nemo on that and just keep going.

Cool story bro. Preaching to the most political audience there is right now. Delete this from your bookmarks and go touch some grass. It’ll truly be the best thing for your mental health.

Uhhh...well...your sentiment is certainly understandable...having said that...if you have any other professional colleagues in other companies they'll tell you office politics, threat of layoffs and ambiguity are now standard operating procedures for the vast majority of employers these days. The only way you'll escape that is switching to an entirely different model of making income e.g. running your own business, inheriting wealth or marrying wealth. This doesn't excuse any of the negative influences and experiences people have...work should not be toxic...but we're in late stage capitalism and post enlightenment and now we're in the broad enshi##ification of everything.
