I'm hearing some HCS were laid off today. Loads of DM. Any other roles?
Biggest surprise for me was the HCS, we can't keep our pharmacy open, but they fired the pharmacists? Our HCS used to be my pharmacy manager and she was one of the best pharmacists I've ever worked for. Why wouldn't they offer a step down? Same for DM, there are SM positions open.
This company is burning down. Get out while you can.

I just found out today that my HCS was fired. He was literally the only person in upper management that understood what was happening in the store and pharmacy. He did more to help me as a SM than anyone. My pharmacy said they're going to follow him wherever he goes. I'm looking for an a escape hatch. If he can be laid off, no one else stands a chance.

I understand that upper management wants to save $$$, but they really need to step foot in a location! 25 years with Walgreens (left 8 years ago) and things just seem to be getting worse. Don’t spend money keeping up the perimeter so the sure look rough - brings in a crowd that Walgreens is not use to.. then theft sky rockets because you don’t have coverage. Saw this coming when they starting putting in clinics - that didn’t work so well - so they backed off. Then putting the manager in the pharmacy to ‘help’ didn’t work either. Let’s try Boots ?!? Really? That’s probably what ki-l Walgreens. And Rite Aid?? Try listening to the store manager and staff - perhaps you’d still be public.

@d2 that’s not the standard. DMs don’t shield stores from cooperate demands, it’s quite literally their job to do the opposite.

@cq would have been easier had you just stated you don't understand business. While there were definitely some DMs in role that should not have been DMs, the DM role is absolutely necessary and isn't going away. Their job is just getting harder and corporate is taking away their ability to lead effectively even more than they had already done. You will regret cheering for this change. DMs have historically done a lot to shield their team from rediculous corporate demands and to protect them from higher ups who are completely disconnected from the stores. Those people are who you should fear and hate. Your DM was in an impossible position, but I guarantee they did more to help you than you will ever understand. Corporate has taken that away. Things are about to get rough. Buckle up.
@ap SHould have been most the DM's. They are so over- valued and do nothings. For the ones that say theirs was great, ya right. For what they do/don't do and to make what they did, it's pathetic. And I have no axe to grind one way or another. Just another layer that is a waste. And some of them I wouldn't even hired as a cashier, that is how bad some of them are. They are just another part of the management problem that caused what has happened. Puppets on a string, they still are part of the problem.

@a7 from what I'm hearing, not many were offered step downs. The company decimated my area. Took most of the high performers.
