Yeah 25 years:
Have been a top performer consistently.
…and just like that.

I probably know you as I work in Enterprise Finance. Plenty of people in sales have left over the last bunch of years and all go onto something else pretty quickly.
Push out to some of the other companies, like Samsung (lots of ex-VZ), Apple, SimpliSafe, ADT, SalesForce and the like.
Some even went to work for customers, like being a Telecom at big companies or in government. You know all the angles and what works and doesn't work.
Best of luck!
OP, what's with the cliff-hanger?
She leave you??
@ad How do you figure close to a year? The cap is 35 weeks.
@a8 not true. see George Fischer
@ar Some have been given an “unofficial” heads up by their mgr.
@a8 you clearly haven’t been here long. We are all lines on a spreadsheet. Don’t sacrifice for this place, they’ll replace you when a contractor before you get home form being laid off.
@OP can’t cut this deep without losing good people; those assuming you can get 15K and only impact low performers are delusional. This isn’t a surgical cut. There will be plenty of low performers who survive and many strong performers who happen to be in wrong group at wrong time. Good luck to you.
I thought Band 6 date is Nov 20, why was OP notified so early?
@ap thank you so much for the reply! I aspire to be on your level. Currently R2B and worried they will axe us and keep mid market as one SMB team. I’m sure you could do enterprise sales for AI tech companies or even so many of our partners like MaaS, Gong, Salesforce etc. take care and enjoy time with your family
@an yes VBG. Fairly snr position in sales.
Started in engineering way back when.
@ac so I’m assuming enterprise in VBG…? You referenced “making ppts for customer meetings Monday mornings”. If you could confirm VBG or not that would be so helpful! Best of luck to you I’m sure you will be able to land an AE job and work back up to enterprise with your experience and tenure
they dont care if your a top performer, you drank the koolaid for 25years and now look at you, this company does not give 2 cr-p's about you and nobody else
Terrible sorry to hear this, hoping you land on both feet and quickly.
Were you offered any type of severance?
@ah nah, business unit consolidation.
Folks don’t understand this is going to be a complete restructure, not just a reduction and keep doing the same work.
25 and performer???
Must be looking at salaries only then is my guess
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Laying awake this morning, I think of things I did wrongly; sacrificed to always put customers and company first. Missed so many moments of my kids development. My youngest not yet a teenager. Ok but also was ‘ present’
Just could have done more.
To the younger folks on here, who survive or not, hope you do… just think about and factor in, it’s just a job.. your kids soccer game for example, on a Saturday morning, instead of catching up on emails and making a ppt for a customer meeting Monday morning; is more important..
Again; wish all of you all the best.
DOOMED.
Communications companies and tech firms are all cutting headcount. You are entering an unemployment nightmare. Everyone recently laid off has a similar skillset and no where to go with it.
Best of luck!
@ac were you under Bryan?
Best of luck in the next job. At least you will get close to a year in severance between RSU, STI, etc.
op here. Band 6 in Enterprise.
Thanks again for kind words.
Hard day waking up this morning.
But will dust myself off, get back on the horse, so to speak.
Really wish you all the best!
Rest assured, sankalp and Hans will be ok financially
If this is true, they would have to be executive leadership right? Others have not yet been notified. Certainly a SVP or VP would be considered a top performer.
What band/position? Assuming Sr/exec leadership?
BS posting. They always make room for top talent somewhere.
I’m so sorry. You didn’t deserve this. Verizon is going to lose a lot of talent during this hatchet job
What was your role? If you dont mind asking...
Im sorry that happen, but wait they let go of top performer? If you dont mind me asking without you saying the department your in what area of the business are you in?
It’s not personal. Grieve then move on. It is how life is.
Whoever you are, you deserved better, especially as a top performer. You will rock this next stage of your life, and I hope you find a company that you enjoy working for during your next chapter.
Thanks yeah I found out yesterday.
Appreciate the kind words and positive message.
Everybody should take this onboard. Be positive and kind to one another, affected directly or not. This type of Credo is what made Verizon great in the past.
If you’re saying you found out you were laid off, I’m sorry. Many of us are still waiting. Think of it this way… you’ve been a steady, top performer for a long time. You’ve handled a lot of pressure over the years. And while this new uncertainty can be unnerving, it’s also a tremendous opportunity to find a new adventure. Concentrate on the positive aspects of being a free agent. Think of all the things you want to do and can do, and start making it happen now.
