Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Offshore is Scam! ITC doesn't want to hire experienced engineers who worked at WHQ even if they are willing to relocate.

15yrs experienced software developer from cognizant (offshore) who is working for Nike for last few years doesn't know what is github or doesn't know the meaning of commit / repository. I mean literally some resources don't know anything and i am not sure how many companies they are working at same time. They celebrate when they hear people who make them work get laid off. ITC leaders trying to build their own empire and they don't want to hire people who are talented and have worked for same company. RIP Nike Technology!

@am One can buy a fake software degree for $1100 and bribe an HR pro to produce a fake resume (hence "10+ years of experience" on everything).

ITC is seeling PHK the cool aid of lower technology cost and PHK leaders are buying into it because they don't know any other way to optimize cost. There is no metric quality and delivery so there is no accountability. It's just a decision to lay off people in PHK and open roles in ITC.

What's also wild is the work that the PHK teams are doing to help cover up the self inflicted S1's by resources in the ITC.... no accountability and instead learning experiences for the PHK folks to help skill up our ITC teammates.

The brain drain in ITC is real. Most people don’t rock-up until 10-11am then just hang around chatting and drinking chai. Many are gone by 4 due to “traffic” with close to zero work shipped. There is a reason you can hire 3-4 engineers in ITC vs 1 in the US. The problem is even though they have 4x manpower they are somehow producing 2-3 times less work with 4x complexity. A real sad story for Nike and the once proud Tech team.

I have to believe it's done on purpose most of the time. More billable hours if you act a fool and make someone else guide you through everything.

@am you’d be surprised but the bar is really low here.

@am I work with several of these types, it is real. I've had to guide them through how to clone a repository. This in the day of AI that will give you the steps one by one that you can just copy paste, and still.. It's like their brain hits this invisible wall and they don't compute anything. They have optimized a single workflow and silently repeated it for years even if it was wrong. The sad thing is that this is the norm now.
