Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Railroading

Where in the strategy of the Lexmark acquisition was there the action to railroad Xerox completely. Xerox is far from perfect (and Lexmark is far from perfect as well. They did lose £600M last year) BUT Xerox does have a heritage, does know some stuff and has done some good stuff and yet Lex are railroading every decision - ignoring Xerox people, no regard for any Xerox experience and ignoring everything that has ever been done. Why don’t the EC just pay off Xerox people and leave the apparently-Lexmark-wonders to manage it all?

Very much enjoying the xerox / lexmark replacement theory: lexmark has a better lean six sigma recipe!

@am you said, "they do. All the EC detest all legacy Xerox employees - all of a sudden!"

They've always hated Xerox legacy employees. Every "winning" move has involved taking something away from the employee, including their job. Buying Lex is the newest way to get rid of what's left of them.

@an Reality is there is dead weight in personnel and processes (plus the people behind those processes) and even business deliverables on both sides Xerox and Lexmark and SLT need to work though these issues. The other thing that SLT needs to do is determine what is exactly needed to turn the ship around and grow as a company (yes it makes me laugh as I type grow).

For example does Xerox need to invest in AI solutions for customers or does Xerox need to view AI services and solutions as a business area to shut down or sell?

@a8 I agree. So why not “move faster” as Bandy told us to, and pay off all the Xerox people NOW, and then let LEX make all the needed changes?

SLT despises legacy XRX US employees. Also LEX are paid less. Every dollar counts when you are headed to insolvency.

Lexmark isn't railroading Xerox middle and lower layer management without senior xerox leadership approval. Xerox SLT views Lexmark railroading as a way to make changes that they couldn't implement due to Xerox culture "heritage" being in the way of making those changes.

The SLT view these changes as the tough love that is required to keep the ship afloat. Right or Wrong with each decision is another story and where history will come into play and show us if SLT was right or wrong in the way they tried to plug the holes in the sinking ship.
