Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Ugh, not happy that so many people will remain who don't want to be here.

Was really hoping VSP was going to at least leave the ones staying behind to work with other people who didn't hate their jobs. I hope the ppl in my department all got the September date, December at the latest.

Angrier than usual people is not what I was looking forward to.

@b2 Well said. I think Gangrene has already set in and parts will be cut off or maybe the whole company is facing imminent death

So we have to let our PL know by July 31st YET for us who got the 2027 release date our PL will know the entire time? So in my case until Aug 2027, that we are taking the VSP so what is preventing them from maybe finding a way out for us to be fired or feeling a type of way because we chose to take it? I am kind of scared to be here for another year while my PL knows I wanted to leave.

@at UM here,
As with most jobs, there are those who stick around, miserable for years spreading it to others. Who knows why 🤷‍♀️
I chose to take the VSP, although it was NOT an easy decision. I’ve loved working for this company but felt after the VSP was offered followed by “if not enough people take it there will be lay offs”
Ehhh, I just didn’t feel very secure anymore so I opted for the VSP, my last day is Dec 11th. I still feel a bit numb or shocked and very sad! I have no idea what I will do, having to start all over somewhere else…UGH! Good luck to all of you! We’re going to be ok! ❤️

@b5 My role with Centene was everything I ever hoped for, I have the most amazing boss and team. I received my approval for the VSP and after 13 years I will part ways on September 4th.

@aw I love my job with Centene. The work I do is fulfilling and important. I love the face to face interaction with our members and working with other community providers. im treated well and compensated well and I have no idea what I will do next if I get laid off

@b1 Agreed, and I really was just speaking about the ones that have been posting about how pi---d they are, how much they dislike the company, or they hate their job. Before today I thought they were few and far between, but today the board seemed overwhelmed with very unhappy people.

Some of my very favorites have taken VSP, I am happy for them, they deserve it, they have put in the years!

As to the comments accusing someone of being drunk or buzzed just because of a couple typos.

Some of us wear reading glasses but do not always feel like wearing them late at night. And some of us type on our phones on here and not all of us have the “super sized” iPhone Max so keyboard is very small. And some of us have families and have the ligjts out except for one lamp late at night so as to not disturb others.

So, if you cannot tell when someone types “IP” when they meant “OP” because the “I” is right next to the “O,” well, that is your problem. Stop being so mean!

Infighting accomplishes nothing but misplaced feelings.

The real question and concern is, why did so many persons take VSP with this company. Even those whom were ready to retire most likely made the decision prematurely based on circumstances within the company over the last couple of years, is my guess.

So, I still feel that there is an “infection,” as it were, within this company. They had better try to find the right “antibiotic” before more parts need to be hacked away.

OP don't fit all VSP into the same light. I am sure some hate their jobs while others accepted for the opportunity could be retirement, more time to start a business, whatever the case may be. Shallow minded people with Tunnel vision would concern me way more.

@ay As long as you love your fellow human kind and don’t wish them ill will that is what is important. And if you are in healthcare, especially a nurse or doctor that responsibility is even greater, or should be. Otherwise, you probably should not be in that role. If ever you say that someone means nothing to you, I certainly hope you never bring those feelings or attitude when treating them. If you cannot have compassion for your patients then you had better have your professionalism to supercede any lack of empathy.

@a6 I don’t get that from they wrote at all and honestly I agree with OP. For the last month I have seen nothing in here but people say they are not doing their work anymore. They are “quiet quitting”. They are done with this place. They are doing the bare minimum. They are burnt out. I have been here for years. I knew the type of company it was when I came onboard and I came from a 20 year career in the hospital floor. So to me, this is nothing compared to being in a hospital. I like my job. I work hard every day and if I get cut that su-ks but I’ll move on. What I don’t want to do is sit on a team of people who are miserable, barely doing any work and the whole team suffers. You don’t like what OP has to say about it, who cares. I agree with them. You don’t have to but you mean absolutely nothing to me.

@ap I was not trying to be mean nor do I care if others like to have a glass or two of wine. I just felt the need to clarify that I personally am not a drinker nor dr-g user because someone had accused me or being “buzzed or drunk” just because one of my posts had a few typos. They also accused me of being not very bright, which I thought was kind of mean and uncalled for.

Anyway, I was just defending my character because character is important. So, my apologies if you thought I was judging you, which I was not.

Anyway

@am
OP here. I hope you got the date you requested.

I had originally thought the majority ppl that applied for VSP were people in your type of position, liked the job, but had good reasons to take the VSP. A Pro/con lists, for some there was more of one than the other that led us to our decisions. Today's postings started to make me think there were a lot more people who didn't like their job and that was why they took VSP

Your comment reminded me that there has to be more ppl like you. Wishing you the best.

@a6 what an ugly thing to say. A lot of people are taking sh-t to cope with anxiety and or depression and maybe had a glass of wine or 2. So get a grip you a-s and be nice if you are even able to do that. I’m glad I don’t know you

I loved my job, HOWEVER… I’m leaving for personal reasons. it was not an easy decision to make.

@a8 presumptuous? So many of the posts I have seen on this board today are from pi---d off people.

But you are correct, this website only represents a small group of people. Hopefully my coworkers are not angry. I hope that if they didn't get the date they wanted it just gives them more time to find a better job. Hopefully they will look at like a blessing in disguise.

@ad naw, I just have fat thumbs and sometimes hit a letter on the small phone keyboard next to the one I tried selecting. Also, I have a bit of dyslexia and have to on the fly in my brain rearrange letters. I actually have a rather IQ but almost never share that at work as people try to take advantage of that.

Anyway, I normally do not call people out but I have seen the same behavior in my mother where she says one thing but means another. She tried to manipulate every situation to fit what she wants.

Anyway, it is not logical for someone to post complaining about people who will be staying that are going through an anxious time. If you had really felt that way, it is more likely you would have said nothing. Which leads, not just me, but at least one other, if not more, that something else was going on and you were deflecting as to what you really feel.

I totally understand that you feel insecure with so many now staying for a while longer. But put yourself in their shoes. Not inly are they staying longer but now they have a target on their back. Whereas, your insecurity is just that you still have to continue competing with more people and, as a result, now are still having to undergo the same insecurities as them because deep down inside you know you are still not safe…just so long as so many others are still here.

As an aside, I do not drink, I am a deep thinker and have taught myself how to fix many things from scratch. I am constantly learning new things. Also, I never drink alcohol nor do any dr-gs, whatsoever.

Have a good night! Wish you all the best. But please do not be secretly hoping for other’s downfall in order to benefit yourself. That is a bad road to go down. Think of Cain and Abel, for one example.

Sorry to burst everyone getting a VSP offers bubble but those that choose to not take the VSP have reasons for wanting to work here. Either it be for the remote flexibility or pay or even just downright liking our job. If you decided on VSP and were accepted, whether leaving soon or not, it is what it is. Do not shun those who did not take and thank you for your service because whether you like it or not, you might have saved a person who does want to be here from getting canned

@a9 I imagine the OP was secretly looking forward today, thinking that everyone that accepted VSP was going to be gone today or September the very latest. And the IP was hoping to log on here or get news through work email (grapevine) and if occurred in that way was going to be shouting out in joyfully in front of their computer saying, YES!!! And then would have danced around the room, singing a homemade tune, “Now my job is safe! Now my job is safe!”

But the OP veils that reality with “Poor me! I have to work with angry people that don’t want to be here.”

What a phony baloney!

@a5 I think it’s quite presumptuous to assume that people will be angry. Maybe you should voice your concerns to leadership considering their actions are the reason your coworkers feel slighted. Judging from the posts I’ve seen, people still plan to do their job but just keep a low profile. I doubt anyone’s anger will affect how you do your job.

@a5 …addendum: And now that you have found out that most of the people will remain, that now threatens your earlier perceived job security as the herd thinned.

by

Post ID: @a7+1kyk26xp5

@a5 In all honesty, I am not buying it.

I think what you really mean in your head is that as a good chunk of the herd is thinned, even though it would have given you more work, it also would have provided you more job security. You are more than likely an average talented worker that is a bottom feeder at other’s misfortunes.

@a3 it's selfish of me to be unhappy along with the people who are firstly unhappy.
I get why they are unhappy and now I am realizing that their unhappiness is going to rain down on all of us.

I originally worried how my department might need to quickly recover from missing people who wanted to leave, and I very much understood why they would want to leave. The people left behind having to pull together and do the work of the ppl that left was going to be difficult, but was hopeful the ppl left behind would at least be more happy to be here than not.

Hopefully my coworkers are going to be in good moods tomorrow and the rest of the time here. Hopefully they got separation dates for 2026.

I understand why people are pi---d about 2027 dates, I feel bad for them, and now I feel bad for myself if I have to work with angry people that don't want to be here. It's going to su-k for ALL of us!
