Layoffs are now always a possibility. I'm not saying to leave, though. You can be happy with your job and still pay attention to what's happening outside the company. Know which employers are hiring and keep track of what your skills are worth in the market. That doesn't mean sending out applications every night. It just means you won't be starting from zero if something happens.

@sa thank you, US Representative of South Carolina, Nancy Mace.
Make love, not hate.
@r4 How do you know? What if some "transwoman" consider themselves to be women? They would just say they are women. If SAP is going to hire men who think they're women then they should make RTO optional. Otherwise, they force women to share a restroom with men. That's unacceptable.
@n3 I fully agree. Engineers should run the show, not money men.
And in my experience, Asians are the best engineers. Just remember Vishal… great guy.
@mw because SAP isn't run by engineers or people enthused about tech, its run by the money men and useless suits from management consultants and like every other business that has given themselves over too them they all eventually wither away, just look at how far companies like IBM have fallen
If you replace management in every solution area with AI, it will be years before anyone notices. And yet they are going after important roles such as developers by trying to get rid of them. The safest job at SAP is HR because they require "personal interactions" and cannot be replaced by AI. It is so sad to see a once great company like SAP get rid of their most important talent just so the executive board can get another million in their bonus.
@j9 As Zitron has said, SaaS vendors... the software industry has run out of ideas.
SAP has to hire more Asians.
Talk to anyone in the tech industry and they are fatigued by AI this AI that. That's because so many shareholders have skin in the AI trade in making sure people are forced to buy this garbage at bloated prices. Who wants to pay a bot to summarize things for you? It's like the economy has run out of innovations outside of AI.
Being told everyday that you are to use Joule to train your own replacement su-ks as well.
@ab Unfortuantly this is a very wide illness across the industry at the moment. Their wrong of cause and good companies realise this is a case for expansion not retraction. But SAP is bloated and slow, full of far to many potificating people at the top who are so far devoirced from the realities on the ground they can make sweaping statemnts about just letting AI do things when we cant even create a useful copilot. For crists sake, half the skills require you manually run playwight on a terminal to get them to work.
I can't wait for the board to replace all these migrants with AI. It makes me actually root for them. With this SAP and Germany can have growth similar to how they have in US tech right now.
@ab trust your board... to not replace themselves with AI
@ab They might hate European and American employees, but certainly not Indian ones.
Indians are great.
The executive board, Hr and supervisory board want to replace a majority of employees with AI. As long as they don't change that mindset SAP is also not a safe workplace. If you're not living under a rock, you will see the hate for employees in their comments and interviews. They call employee salaries and benefits the third largest expense to the company and they want us gone so that money can go to them in 2027 and 2028 when most of them conclude their contract.
