Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

Porting 1 job = 1 person on social support

In Canada want to allow companies like Imperial Oil to port jobs to BTC and KLTC, then Canada needs to provide social safety net that will help us maintain our lifestyle.

So, basically, I am saying Canada needs to tax companies that are porting jobs outside the country and use those dollars for a better social safety net.

If you calculate the tax rate, it will be so high that no company will be willing to port jobs overseas anymore.

Readers to this website, asking your help to spread this message. We need to pass a Canadian law that ported jobs will have to be taxed by the hour.

Politics produces policies, if policy can bring business and jobs, it can also take them away. That is how free markets work without political interference work. PP and Smith have been trying to create a free market business focussed environment where businesses can do everything to drive down cost and profitability and in the process companies sought out places where they could offshore jobs to reach that profit motive.

I wouldn't be surprised that all the oilsands unions will also be affected in the future. If they don't agree, then companies will take their profits and invest in other places, Guyana or Brazil or possibly even Venezuela in the future. If oilsands want to remain competitive, labour costs will have to come down and field operators will definitely have to accept lower salaries and no overtime rates and reduced pensions. Most places have already eliminated defined benefit plans from 30 years ago. That is what caused GM to go into bankruptcy protection in 2009, those pension plans and high labour costs and unions destroyed GM. And the same will happen in the oilsands if operators don't learn to become wage competitive.
Ontario is already learning the hard way as it is no longer competitive and lost so many jobs.

It’s sad to see people’s comments.

Even after this, they still think it’s about politics… communism.
Man, your and your children’s jobs are going to India , at a rate you can’t even comprehend. This so‑called nation and society will be destroyed… it’s economic plunder

We are trying to deal with a real issue here. Those who are more interested in politics, please go somewhere else.

@a7 so deal with your job loss you capitalist and stop crying about it.

It’s really ironic how all the PP and DSmith lovers are crying about this… it’s people like them and their policies that allow your job to be offshored. And you voted for them to cut your job.
