Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

somebody should ask AI

when half the population is jobless because of AI, who is going to buy the products that the company needs to pay out the $80 MILLION a year that the executive board has been getting paid?

Worried? Of course, it’s normal to be critical when the largest layoff wave in Verizon history is run like a circus. What’s not normal is defending the company at a time like this, unless you’re not a Verizon employee at all… or maybe a PayPal transplant waiting for your next slot to open up.

And sure, not every cut is a 1:1 correlation to AI which only proves my point. No system today can replace 15,000 jobs across multiple departments. Even replacing 1 in 10 roles across several departments with automation takes years of development and optimization. You don’t fire thousands of people then start working on unexciting AI or whatever you call it to fill the gap.

As for ‘bloat’ sure every company has bloat but certainly not 15% bloat in Verizon.
Actually the only real bloat at Verizon is the incompetent higher management that sells fake hope and empty slogans exactly what Dan is doing with his AI fairy tale and the half‑baked models he’s parading around.

@a2 I think you’re a bit salty and worried. Not every single cut he made is a 1/1 correlation to AI. You’re foolish if you can look around the company and honestly say we don’t have bloat.

Wait until the AI bubble bursts. It’s coming.

Dan’s AI fairy tale is laughable.
No AI system replaces 15,000 jobs across several departments overnight. He’s just peddling buzzwords, fake hope, and magician tricks to stall while real people pay the price.
