@a9 how much the company makes and how much operating income they have are two different things and this is what the Gp doesn’t seem to understand when they’re saying “target is a multibillion company”. Sure. But they still have to pay labor, and logistics/shipping, and taxes, and tariffs… and supplies, and fees, and marketing spend, and print production, and rent, and contracts… etc etc. when sales are down it squeezes operating income and the quickest way to cut costs is labor (labor is always the most controllable expense). It doesn’t make it fair, or right, or any easier but it’s just the way it is in business.

If your source is an L8 - they are just hearing the same rumors as everyone else. L9 and below is not involved in the decision making.

@ab and yes I apologize for the sarcasm. This just su-ks. I actually like my job, a lot. I know others do too but some just do their job as a means to a paycheck which is fine and understandable, I just actually enjoy my work and can’t imagine not having it anymore. Anyway, hopefully it works out.

@aa sorry, thought they would have considered that before all the terrible pr decisions they made. Not entirely sure how this is going to help their public image either. Seems like it’s going to go from churches and minorities to teachers unions to a whole lot of other shoppers who think it’s pretty awful to make families pay the price for targets bad decisions. The optics will be bad.

@a9 You are an id--t. TGT is a publicly traded company. Leadership has the duty to drive profit for shareholders by cutting costs.

So we have to wait another week? This is brutal. They don’t even have to do layoffs, they are still making money.
