Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Locked out of internal roles

I was part of the July layoffs in CX. When TJ was reading from the hostage video script she made it clear that “it had nothing to do with your performance” and it was based on needs of the business

Fast forward two more months and I have applied on multiple roles I am more than qualified for. I come to learn there is a flag in the system that shows if you are part of an impacted universe. In other words “we are laying this person off, do not hire them”

I am assuming this type of discrimination is not legal?

@e0 OP Most of the people over 50 will not likely find anything close to what they left and will be back

OP here. To be clear, I am not off payroll for another few weeks (thanks NJ Warn), so I can post internally.

I understand the “6 month rule” or whatever it is to come back but by then I will have another job and erase memories of the “Me Team”

@a8 Correct. You need to be willing to brown nose with your head stuck very far up your future manager's colon

it's legal as long as the Orange felon and his toothless regulatory agency stooges are in control

OP! You are done for at least 12 months from your 'date of departure'. You can be rehired - after 12 mos.

lots of people have been hired back from last year's rif. there are probably also a lot of people applying for those positions from inside and outside the company.

IF ( and this is a big IF ) you get hired back, you forfeit the severance, WITH taxes and all.
Now, to get hired back you need to have some one that really loves you , and wants you back. This company does not work on merit or competence. Need to be Indian, have some one in, or ... pictures with some one to get back in. And, think about, there was a reason they wanted to get rid of you.

I know many people who were impacted and got hired back in other positions before their off payroll date. I think it's just that competition is fiierce, same as out in the wild from what I've heard

Two previously impacted folks got hired onto my team in VBG, and we are happy to have them. Maybe it's just the positions you're applying to.
