Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Are there layoffs planned for this week or march?

I saw a post earlier in here that layoffs were going to happen this week, but I was under the impression it was going to be in march. Does anyone have any updates on that?

It looks like a lot of the comments under the post are about NY, but will that extend to other areas of the company?

@fs Looks like they've bumped the earnings call to a few days AFTER their new deadline for WBD to submit to the nepo baby's will. How convenient: "we're not going to tell you how bad we are at running THIS company until you sell us a much bigger, more valuable one!"

@jm Thanks, but posting links to paywalled articles is kind of useless for most folks.

To save everyone the trouble, it's Chris Simon, EVP of Agency Partners, according to sources.

Not that shocking, since outgoing head of sales John Halley was announced to be leaving in December, but still a blow.

Much more to come in that area as the new guy from Roku, Jay Askinasi, cleans house and brings in a bunch of his own folks who are likely to be totally inexperienced with linear television sales, which still drives the vast majority of the company's ad revenue.

@jd it’s incredibly short sighted and petty for a modern media company to go back to the old ways. Definitely not attracting the best talent with their policies.

@f9 its a disaster because we lost a lot of good people. We are allowed to rehire, but no one wants to work for a company that requires 5 days in the office a week. It's a complete disaster.

@ha 10am was already the norm for a lot of departments (which mostly USED to work until 7pm or 8pm). That's slipping too.

@gr 11? I think that's a stretch. But I definitely see people coming in at 10.

If it happens will be before earnings call mid Feb to mitigate the loss Ellison is greater since he’s been at the helm.

@cy Why do you think RTO is a disaster? (Half kidding and half serious). Floors have been very quiet. The exodus out the building starts at 3. The person whos next to me was coming in before and after me the first couple of weeks, and now that person comes in after 10, leaves before 4, and only comes in every other day. But maybe that's isolated. lol.

@ec yeah like how there would be a flexible approach for RTO and then 20 minutes later we get the "everyone is required to return to office 5 days a week"? so trustworthy.

@cj I don’t think so. Leadership announced last year that the layoffs would be "one and done". I trust them.

Remember when Shell and Ellison said layoffs would be a "one and done" proposition, and they would never dream of replicating the endless cycles of "reductions" and "redundancies?"

They both seem like really honest, trustworthy, caring guys. I still trust them. There will be no more layoffs! The company's doing great! Everybody loves what they're doing, and it's the new golden age of Paramount! We're all so very, very lucky to work for the most ethical and forward-thinking executives the entertainment world has ever known!

@cv Wrong answer. You will see soon enough. RTO Phase 1 was a disaster and they now realize it. We also can't hire people because nobody wants to work for a company that goes 5 days a week into the office.

@ct Announced in Q2. And what Q1 has proven is that there is plenty of open space for remote to RTO. So I expect them to be ordered to return.

I'm more interested in Phase 2 RTO. When will it be announced? If anyone knows official info they want to dish out, please go ahead.

Nothing is happening this week and I don’t believe the March layoffs are happening now.
