Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Ready for a paid exit

I'm kind of hoping my name is on the next list. Things have gotten so bad here that a severance seems like the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I just want out.

@12p yes if you take VSRP it’s quitting you will not get unemployment

@1ew I did tell them I was laid off. They fought back and said I quit with no notice. Hence why I won, just ridiculous they would do that after going on and on that they wouldn’t. Shouldn’t have been surprised.

@1eb I think the difference here is you need to state you were "laid off" and dont say you "quit" when applying for unemployment.

@1eb That su-ks they tried to fight you on the unemployment benefit. I remember a meeting with Mike Baker and he stated they would not be fighting anyone's unemployment that took the VRSP. Figures he would lie.

I took the severance back in May and even though I still haven’t found a new job, I don’t regret my decision at all. That company beat me down to nothing. I will note that they did fight me on unemployment and told them I quit until I sent the severance agreement to them. Can’t believe I gave that place 15 years of my life.

@12p It didnt this past April. I took the VRSP and my last was 4/23 and I applied for unemployment stating I was laid off. No problems.

Doesn’t VRSP deny you unemployment benefits?

I left the company recently after many years. I was unsettled with the direction and was sad to leave after all the time I invested. I could have left with VRSP but was nervous I wouldn't be able to find a job before the little severance ran out. I was feeling like the once stable job was no longer there. I kept hearing how AI would not replace the work force it was there to help.
I am so glad the burden if uncertainty of my job is no longer looming.

So are people receiving random teams invites or is there a title in particular? Is it all of a sudden with no notice ? Because I received a teams meeting for a week to meet with ceo ? Who are laying people off ?

Don't assume that you will get a severance even if you are laid off if you are laid off from United in an at will state. And just watch out for how poor the raises are this year and the bonuses while the corporate executives high up will still get their millions. They lie all the time and people do not matter to them.

I do not think they will ever offer that again. I was also told Friday tons of leaders let go. Working for this billionaire corporation nothing would surprise me anymore.

@OP How long have you been with the company that waiting for severance is worth waiting

@a6 Yes they know too many people would jump on it this time. When it was first offered people were still unsure and had hope. Now people know more and know there is no hope and its time to jump ship.

I wish I would've been offered the VRSP. I truly hope they offer it again to more folks--but I've heard from higher up they won't roll out that program again due to demand.

@OP I feel you. It’s a dark demonic entity of a company
