Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Prediction

The company is currently liquidating legacy assets, rewriting its core operational script, or letting go of divisions that no longer serve it. It is a period of internal "rewiring" that paves the way for massive efficiency. Expect a major battle with corporate compliance, tax authorities, or intense competitive pressure in early 2027. However, this trial-by-fire will actually result in the company restructuring into a dominant market leader. Massive cash flow or funding injections are highly likely by mid-2027. Will win many govt contracts, and pivot well. Do not dilute the brand, there will be a strong temptation in 2027 to jump into completely unrelated Canadian market niches. Resist this. Double down on the core product or service that made the company resilient in the first place.

We have been trying to liquid assets for over a year now - people dont want it, lets stop pretending that is the answer. We do not have a valuable customer base they dont want to use our products, why would any one want to buy them out right.

@f9 So far, no. The bigger issue is Ayman laid it out to his ELT that he expects success (growth) with no excuses. The ELT understands their jobs are on the line (and they make millions every year , job loss is huge). That dynamic has the ELT behaving anxiously and reactionary, which is why we are starting to see a culture of constant shifts in focus, more tracking, etc.

@dt Ayman isn't waiting for a recommendation. That's his way of distancing himself from the changes that are coming which will result in WFRs. Company is doing deep analytics into the value of products and which to continue to invest in and which to shelf, with decisions already made on some. There are many things going on in parallel including plans to WFR employees whose expense is tied to certain portfolios. In this way, removing that expense will change the revenue $ for that portfolio. Remember, Ayman has committed to the BOD all core portfolios will show a minimum 2% growth, and with the new GTM model which was hugely expensive to implement (mainly around the massive comp and stock for leaders who opted to stay on board) not producing (by the numbers, OT continues to show some portfolios shrinking ), Ayman has his leadership team scrambling to come up with legal ways to make these losses less painful.

@OP Not sure how you are thinking we will have better things in FY28. But i do see leadership is promoting Sovereign and hiring lot in Europe, than in USA, Canada and Philippines, India. I do see a strategic shift, towards Europe and middle east. Muhi is happy, he gets free home trips.

@a4 normally yes, but. Ayman danced around layoffs via internal examination and recommendations to come.

Unless he and the board have active infighting over those recommendations there's a chance in he-l this time. Not that I trust either end.

@ah I'm impressed by your mindless dedication to the bit. You're either a poorly written bot, or a sad individual. Either way... need's improvement. PiP for you!

The markets love us

The energy in the office is incredible. We are hiring so many that HR can't keep up

Our stock price is heading up due to all the new customers

There are zero layoffs on the horizon as our CEO said on the town hall

@OP I was with you for the first sentence. After that it became rainbows and unicorns. Name one of the current executives who has ever attempted anything like that, let alone actually done that? This BOD? Anyone at OT in charge of strategy & direction?

Personally, I got nuthin. Wouldn't touch OTEX unless I had insider information that a VC was going to pounce. Even then, I'd have second thoughts.
