Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

PEGA

SBHP recently started using PEGA to track "productivity". However, no one has a clear answer on how it works or what it's tracking. No one in our department has above 67% and people are being told to just click around more. Obviously that's not the solution because everyone would be successful at that point. Does anyone have any clear metrics or tactics that work?

My PL told us they can tell with the PEGA if we are using a mouse jiggler or clicker or anything like that. Not sure how true it is, I don’t have it, nor do I care. I do my best and if it’s not good enough they are free to let me go before my VSP date.

I wish I could suggest the mouse clicker...without suggesting it. We are meeting our goal, but not our PEGA goal, and i know it would look so unprofessional to make that kind of comment - but Hey...what have I got to lose, right?

Productivity numbers don’t reflect reality. In PEGA, anything over 100% meant you were working off the clock, and anything under 90% meant you weren’t working “enough" on the clock. Scorecards are even worse. Points for nurse approvals to MDRs used to be scored 1:2 - now it’s almost 1:1.

Just more arbitrary numbers added to metrics that are already unclear and misleading.

There's such a thing called a "mouse clicker".
Perhaps do a search/research best options.

Similar to a jiggler, but it does intermittent clicks.

Not necessarily advocating or suggesting using one, but they are in use by many.

@c6 Whole on meeting calls, I used to sit and move my mouse just to keep MS Teams showing green constantly just so I didn’t have to worry about them trying to ding me for inactivity.

I remember years ago telling my leader at the time that letting almost everyone work remote is probably not a good idea. Not because the employees could not be trusted but because some old fashioned leaders would not be able to let go of the capability of walking by workers desks to enable they are working.

With that said, I think working remote is a blessing because you save money on gas, car maintenance, the concern of potential accident, save on lunches, and have more quiet to focus on work.

If your job is to attend 5-6 meetings per day then you would have half the day of no clocking, this has to be job specific

@bk Yeah, somewhere below I was using satire to try and show just how ridiculous and absurd it is for companies to be monitoring their employees in this way, as though they were children.

To do such micromanaging it tends to backfire and produce the very thing you are aiming for. Meaning, if you treat people like children or like adults that you do bot trust, THEN it should not surprise you when they start trying to find a workaround INSTEAD of focusing on their project and seeking to please their leaders, as they strive to do a good job.

But instead, they feel unappreciated, untrusted, and it is very hard for them to focus on the work at hand when they know every second some program is monitoring every aspect.

Not to mention, they know that monitoring software is riddled with monitoring in the wrong ways, by counting number of clicks per hour, or keystrokes, but failing to count number of silent innovative thoughts that saved perhaps weeks on a project by coming up with an ingenious method that saved time and money.

😂😂😂 Stop being productive and start randomly clicking!

That is too funny!

I am not sure if my department is using this, but I guess I'll need to clickly the mouse as I read my work.

@b0 Guess you don’t pick up on satire much.

Track me see if I care. You don’t trust me, fire me. It’s that simple. Who’s tracking the C-Suite? Oh ya, they don’t have PEGA at the fancy steak houses & country clubs

If you don’t have enough work that you need to click to be productive, then clearly there is not a need for your position.

I saw a comment here months back someone mentioning 3 minutes. You have to click atleast every 2-3 minutes. After 3 minutes it shows you’re away even if your teams shows active. You can’t just move your mouse you have to click. I tried it and I’ve been passing ever since!

Sounds like they're getting their ducks in a row to be able to "prove" that certain individuals or groups won't be meeting metrics in "performance", so they can instate PIPs down the road.

Looks like it's a game of roulette for those who took the VSP, to see if their end date of sometime next year arrives before any of this PEGA foolishness gets implemented into "legit" metrics they obviously plan on using to boot people out on Centene's timeline, not the employees'.

And it looks like it's a game of beat the clock for those who didn't take the VSP, to see how long they can last before being fired (with no severance, warning or notice) for not measuring up when it comes to "performance."

It's inhumane to treat people this way. If they don't trust in your ability to do your job, then why are they paying you to work for them? These trackers such as PEGA aren't put into place to improve producticity, they're there to demoralize staff, set staff up for failure, and force decent workers out. This is a violation of trust, a degredation of dignity, unprofessionally condescending, and downright insulting.

Get another job somewhere else, before this place makes you unemployed!

@a4 I agree with this, to just click more being the solution. However, just wanted to add that because 8 hours is a very long time to click, each and every day, I find it helpful to mix things up and click to rhythmic beats of songs I know.

For example, I may click to the rhythmic beats of “The Sound of Music” for a bit, then switch over to “Kiss from a Rose” by Seal. Anyway, hope this helps.

You are probably just not clicking enough or else not moving your mouse around enough as you click. Just click all over the place like a crazy person; you don’t even need to look at the screen while doing so.

It is the new “productivity” of the corporate world!

@OP If nobody can get above 67%, I’d question the metric before questioning the employees. Ask exactly what counts as productive, what counts against you, and what work PEGA can’t see.

“Click around more” just teaches people to game the metric. At that point, they’re measuring clicks, not productivity.
