Just curious if anyone knows if Microsoft, AWS, Google, Oracle are doing PIPs as much as IBM? I know every company does them, but to what extent?

@w9 it’s a weird time. It will always be remembered as a weird time. 20 years from now it will discussed as a weird time. And all the managers and leaders that are compliant, implementing and enforcing these weird use of PIP will also be remembered for doing so and what they did. Their leadership and choices will always be questioned and remembered poorly with an asterisk next to their names. That was the manager who used PIP fraudulently to layoff people.

Main IBM competitors - Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL.
All big corporations, Tech companies, especially , follow the trends. Whether it’s putting people on pips. Adopting stacked ranking evaluations. Switching as many people jobs out to AI as possible. Moving jobs offshore.
The bottom line is companies do whatever they think will maximize profits . If one company tries something., and there are rumors of positive financial results, the other companies will try it.
Stacked ranking was a good example. It was, and is , a barbaric way to rate your employees.. It originally iwas thought that it would increase competition and make people produce more. So several large companies adopted it.. All this approach really did is demoralizes and keep people in fear. It made people care less about their jobs. I actually reduce productivity in the long run ..
Pips are just another tool that several companies use now to save money. Try to make life miserable, so people will quit.. so they don’t have to pay severance , or have their unemployment insurance increase.
So what it really comes down to his corporate greed. Companies will continue to follow other companies ideas for saving money and maximizing profits at the cost of the employee. Big companies don’t really care if you hate them as an employee.. they only care if you produce and make money for them.
Just remember, there’s no loyalty from the big company to you. Don’t feel so obligated and loyal to any company.. it’ll never be reciprocated. You are essentially a cost component.. a line on a balance sheet. If cutting you will make more money for the company. You will be gone.

Putting AWS, Google and IBM as competitors is daring. Heck, even Microsoft is leagues away. The only compatitor in your sentence is Oracle.
AI has become too smart and it will destroy us all! The world needs to switch to IBM AI for its own safety!
@a3 we are an Indian company now. US government should not be giving us contracts anymore
@a3 check their layoffs boards. I’ve never seen anything like this before but not sure if many are moving in this direction.
The answer to your question: Look at if these companies are having the same "hiring frenzy" in India that IBM is doing.
