Has anyone heard anything credible about the bank forcing people back to the office 4 days per week starting in 2026?

rumor mill says bank of america is going to enforce 6 day week beginning Q3 taking advantage of current job market
Yes, 5 days a week mandatory staying in Q2. One LOB is starting on 3/1.
The only way to avoid more days in the office is a reduction in headcount. Right now RTO is just a good way for people to leave. BoA still has not achieved the level of turnover it desires.
@15h Simple...they can track your VPN usage. If connecting to network via VPN, that means employee is not in the office.
Having said that, being connected to office network does NOT mean one is actually working.
how do they track in office hours?
"It's mandatory 3 days a week unless manager approves days away. Can't make up days missed following weeks. Holidays are considered 1 day at home remaining days must have 3 in office."
This is a "good thing"? Bwahahahahahahhaa!
I've been told hr reviews attendance ever 6 weeks. It's mandatory 3 days a week unless manager approves days away. Can't make up days missed following weeks. Holidays are considered 1 day at home remaining days must have 3 in office.
The main thought is BofA doesn't want to follow the herd. They trust the employees but don't ruin a good thing. Plus space is a premium.
People working from home seem to sit there and work.
People “at work” in the office seem to wander around visiting, talking, get food and drinks, you know, all that super important collaboration.
@ag - news flash, not everyone was coming in five days a week before Covid.
@s4 The holiday weeks are discretionary. For example, major holidays such as Xmas and New Years weeks WFH throughout the week. Veteran's Day, counts towards one of the two days WFH. Sick days and personal days also count towards the two days WFH. This is why I plan on WFH on Thursdays and Fridays unless I take a sick day/personal day before then.
As for comments pertaining to woman, this is baloney. There is a man who works in my group comes in late and leaves early. Must be a perk for management with the policy do what we say not what we do.
If BOA wants us to work 4/5 days a week in the office, then it is a power trip for management. The work gets done WFH and I am still able to talk to customers. Before you know it, it will be policy for 5 days a week and BOA will use this as justification to terminate employees. The lessons learned from the pandemic will be a distant memory. In layman terms, it was good to WFH while it lasted.
wild posts. do any of you actually work at boa? there is no policy that says 10 weeks (bank holidays) are not counted. some of the holiday weeks are excluded. why would you exclude vacation time? 4-5 days in office was for client facing. why does the comment about coming in late and leaving early pertain only to women?? you all seem to be smoking something...
Just remember some departments never got the 3/2 schedule. We just got 5 days a month work from home. Even though we are just on the phones and don’t meet with any clients in person and support people all over the country that we never meet either.
I know there is a very senior leader work team looking at this. Last I heard was that management was split. I 100% hope we don’t lose hybrid. It’s the only thing keeping me sane
almost all the women on my floor under age of 30 except me come around 10:30 and leave after lunch much better than 4 days p/week
Half the women on my floor under age of 30 got a medical excuse "anxiety" and are now working from home full time.
I know I will be downvoted; however, I agree that in some cities, there's not enough space to manage 4/5 days in the office. Having said that, I think the three days a week policy is fair. Assuming you don't take any vacation time off, the following is the math,
Number of weeks per year: 52
Assuming you have to be five days a week in office minus bank holidays: 525 - 10 = 250 days
As per policy # of weeks that count: 52 - 10 (bank holiday weeks) = 42
Required # of weeks in office i.e., 4 out of 6 rolling weeks = 2/3 of 42 = 28 weeks
Number of required days = 28 3 = 84
Without any vacation, you are effectively expected to be in the office only a third of the time, which I think is very fair.
Weren't there a bunch of people here, last year around this time, saying RTO 5-days a week was absolutely coming in 2025?
No
sh-t, that hasn't stopped at&t or ford.
I'm sure it's coming especially now that the survey is completed and the results are in. I'm totaling expecting an email around October/November telling us at least 4 days in January. That email will be comical with all the bs it will have in it. Btw, once that email comes they should immediately stop using the motto.."It's a great place to work" because it won't be.
@ag we have an entire floor that's empty in MD. One random associate works there 2 times a week from my understanding.
No, I think it’s assumed but Wells Fargo is doing four in some areas but not all.
They don’t have space for 4/5 days a week in the office? What did they do before Covid? And also my floor has never been more than 50% full
On any day of the week since Covid.
3 is already a struggle to spend with the deceitful sc-mbags in my office. 4 could possibly ki-l me.
No. Stop making up stuff.
They don’t have the space in some cities to manage 4/5 days in office.
