Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

It’s just better to know

It was the silence and uncertainty that was ki-ling me. Waiting for the hatchet to fall. Created so much intense anxiety. Especially since EVERYONE and their mother knew that the layoffs were coming.

Yes, I’m out of a job. It’s not what I wanted, but at least I know. I’m going to take a few days to digest this unexpected turn of events. Then I’m moving forward in putting this dumpster fire of a company in the rearview mirror.

@a2 I had a very strong feeling as well because my manager has been avoiding me for the past two weeks! Canceling our regular 1:1 meetings. So I already knew that I was pretty much cooked, but nevertheless, I still had anxiety waiting for official notice. I’m just glad today is over. We are still alive.

I wasn't worried I already knew because my Mgr hates me. He even canceled our weekly synch yesterday, he canceled the entire event, no future meetings. I'm not missing any sleep working for any other person I am better off.

@OP As a contractor who was let go a few years ago unexpectedly, I can tell you that if you look for a new position, you will find one. In my final weeks I provided basic information to VZ long time employees guidance on processes. What a kick in the teeth. I am better off now in a position that is much less stressful. Take your time and make deliberate decisions. Praying for all of you. I remember how hard it was.
