Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

this style of keeping everyone on their toes waiting, especially through Labor Day weekend of all times, is really cruel

when will these never ending layoffs and re-orgs just stop. It feels extremely unnerving and unsafe, even as a high performer, to feel like you could be on the chopping block constantly over the past few years at Nike.

Uh this will happen forever now.

Nike is not growing and will be retrenching forever.

Doesn’t mean the company will fail it means that cost cutting will now be the main lever.

If you see innovation driving up the top line, then this may stop.

Don’t hold your breath

Save your money and pay off your debt. This happens every year.

It’s called At Will employment. The faster you accept it the better off you’ll be.

My team is putting meetings on the calendar to keep the work along. How out of touch are some of you people?

You guys need to first fire all directors, vps and anyone with a title head of cr-p world. Flatten the organization and abolish the MBA culture.

@OP it was this repeated experience that specifically turned me away from liking working at Nike. It’s an awful, cruel way to treat people they supposedly call “family.” With JD the veil was pulled back and the lies became too hard to ignore.

Anyone with a brain will tell you: this will continue to hurt morale and perception outside of Nike. I will never recommend working here for this reason and a few other big ones.

EH needed extra time to compose himself after shedding so much tears over the layoffs. And while he acknowledges how difficult this will be for most, more so for the families that just sent their kids back to school, just know that he shed 3.8 buckets of tears.

This is a tickle compared to announcing layoffs right before winter holiday break.
