Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Ratification number are sad for ibew wonder what the cwa break down is no one voted so they now can say it passed overwhelmingly

Sad look at the ibew number some areas barely half of the eligible voters voted .If the not voting was supposed to send a message how d-mb .If they wanted to send a message it should have been a vote no.The only votes that were cast were the cronies of the union leaders the no votes were members who care the rest didn’t vote so they can’t say anything in my book but one things for sure after 2 separate strikes where we had them where we wanted them and the union unexpectedly sent us back to work right before both times there were major natural disasters we would have had them over a hole but instead we were forced 16 hour days while they sent us back to work in good faith while giving away our contract this is it for me I think it’s time I stop paying my dues their pretty much useless ibew and cwa they now cemented that we will all need to work till Medicare age thanks might as well just ask for a bigger raise and forget saying we have retirees medical its unaffordable sad for the ones already in retirement

You got job protection and achieved over 30 percent compound pay raise. It.would have been insane to vote no for more in this climate..get real..

@a1 as part of the 99% -- I am not unionized and dont have the choice. And if given the choice I would vehemently DECLINE without a doubt.

Stop you complaining and whining. Face reality.

My group's union doesn't even know what we do. Questions are raised that are never answered. Grievances are never won, even when it is spelled out in the contract in black and white. We're supposed to be happy because subbed out work is now coming back, but it's not coming back to our group, it's going to another group.

And they wonder why a big portion of this side of the business doesn't care.

You don’t even know what real slavery is/was. There’s certainly no pay or benefits involved at all. By the way the American dream has always been that for a lot of people- just a dream not a reality.

Sad the sacrifices made by everyone current and former employees all erased .This just represents the state of America .The American dream is only for the 1 percent .Even the last line union workers have been lost to the failed system .The next few decades will be sad for the new generations .Once the telephone company unions we were looked up to as a guide for others .But no longer all sold out .No with the current state of this country the unions in most sectors usually consider safe have also been dismantled. They want everyone to think it’s to the benefits of the people but it’s really for the long term plan of the 1 percent to completely keep everyone below as a working slave
