My engineering manager warned me that I will be let go soon. What should I do now?

In minneapolis they gave out cutting boards for employee appreciation, no joke. i would suggest pulling that out to be prepared.
To get pre-notice of notice is great. And maybe it’s even a verbal heads up about a pre-notice
Similar thing happened to me in 2025. Displaced with a year’s severance. Found a gig through my network about 3 months in and double-dipped remaining time. Work at Huntington Bank here in Charlotte. Fantastic place, so take a look.
@OP update your resume if you haven't already. I tend to keep my resume current and ready to go at all times just in case. Start posting on job boards (Indeed, Monster, etc.). You minght want to change your LinkedIn to show "Open for Work" since mgmt has already notified you.

Sell your house, your car.
Start auctioning off your other stuff you over extended yourself on to pay off your credit cards.
Start to love Ramen and Ketchup.
Get a bus pass.
Start networking at Walmart.
Save all your pto, when you leave the company is the only time you can sell it back. Take advantage.
Somehow, get all documentation regarding your performance off of Wells Fargo systems and in your hands. In case they play games, you have a paper trail
Start looking to revitalize your network now. It can sometimes take some time for an opportunity to turn up
Wow that's awesome. Not only do you get a package, but your manager gave you a heads up. That's as good as it gets.
The phrase is "chopping block", not "chopping board".
When chopping wood, an AXE and chopping BLOCK is used, not a kitchen kn--e on a cutting/chopping board.
Hence the associated terms regarding getting fired or laid off from a job:
"An axe hanging over his head"
"Waiting for the axe to fall"
"Getting the axe"
"Axed"
Halt all discretionary spending and reassess your current monthly expenses, especially subscriptions, entertainment, and travel. Not saying to cancel everything,but now is the time to take a critical look at what's a want vs a need. Dollars saved now will be a lifeline later

Agree with all the other posters but at least you got told instead of a made up performance review.
Save every single penny you can. You could literally be looking for work or working something that su-ks temporarily for a few years before you find a great gig. Cut expenses to the bone, save and make sure you don't do anything to jeopardize either your severance or your unemployment benefits.
Celebrate! In all seriousness though, take a good look at your run rate for bills every month and see how long your savings will last. Then start applying for any job that looks interesting. And save as much as possible until the bottom falls out. Living is expensive.
@OP same thing I'm doing, finding as much daily work as needed to stay employed until the severance call materializes. I used my spare PTO until that date (mgr gave me the heads up) to not work more than 3 days in a week until then.
Start looking or a new job
