Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC Execs are lying barstwerds

The UK's largest police force has awarded DXC Technology a contract worth up to £1 billion to develop and run a host of business process outsourcing services – including building a new Oracle ERP system.

The management said UK was doing not so good so no no payrises, and then a few days later they announce a $1.4 billion deal.

Those emails are to keep you going, they know that morale is at rock bottom, and they are giving you big pay cuts every year.

Its a way of keeping you on board for paying you peanuts, and in the meantime the Execs take your pay and fly around.

I keep getting emails saying how great our account is and how well we're all doing. We're Evidently we're all working very hard! Seems they are spending all their money on propaganda and internal marketing. Trying to convince us of this farce. The only people working hard are those marketing bods from what I see. I've not had much to do for weeks now. The client has gone away to test something which they don't seem too bothered about. There's nothing else to be done right now...

@nr+1knqkjq1w its because the execs lie all the time. They say we are doing very well to collect their pay, then say we are losing business when it comes to employee pay.

They show the odd win they make but don't mention the failures that terminate.

@nr Something to do with nobody's had a more than 1.5% rise in the last 10 years. New staff come in on a premium just to get them to join - which obviously just puts everyone else's backs up. There's been no investment in systems and processes in all that time. The whole company has pretty much ground to a halt. It's not very hard to block anything and everything when nobody can seen any incentive to behave any differently. When it all goes wrong the majority just want VR/CR and will get it once they can convince management they are no longer required.

Policy drives behaviour!

@e8
What’s going wrong with it as all we hear is how brilliant its going?

@h7 The smart ones are using AI to get at a solution faster. Whilst telling everyone it still takes weeks. Meanwhile the task is 2 week early and the users aren't ready to test it. So we'll all just sit about (aka focus on our side hustle and outside jobs while the sun's shining) until they are.

AI replaces development with end-user choice.
Did you need to contact a consultant and developer to add an app on your mobile phone?
Nope. its the same direction as with AI. Milk it while you still can, luddite fools.

@e8 Developers can be replaced with AI - we've been told! Just throw a user requirement at it and watch it spew out 1000 lines of code than nobody understands. Then watch it go around in circles breaking what was working. But that's the users fault for not being clear! You don't need professional staff anymore. That's where DXC is heading! Roll on the VR, it's all I'm holding out for...

As a developer I've not been given anything to develop in 18 months now. The clients don't want DXC changing things to make them better. But I've seen them bring in new providers and it's a totally different story. They point out how bad it is and are now busy rewriting. We could have done that. But nobody trusts DXC. Possibly rightly now.

This account has been going about 6 months and is such a clusterf**k that it’ll end up costing DXC when the Met finally wise up to that total numpties trying to manage this project. I’m seeing it first hand on a daily basis and it’s amazing DXC hasn’t been kicked out yet. In a nutshell it’s just the dross that’s left as all the decent managers are long gone. For us developers it’s just a waiting game for VR.

I think they've cried wolf one too many times now. All trust and respect has been lost. Just tell me what you want doing, when you actually know, and I will do it at a rate that I feel is appropriate to my compensation package. I.e. slowly. If you want a professional service then pay a professional wage and stop rubbing it in my face that I should have resigned and come back and could be on 30% more like new hires are.

@OP yes. They also keep sending these "Newsflash! Big win! Another success!" emails, got already hundreds of them during the time I have been working in DXC, but these Wins and Successes never translate to any money. It is like they are laughing at us sending them...

Please fill out the time sheets and forget the big deal - that money is earmarked for the exec bonuses.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

That money has been put into the executive's 'pig' trough. That's why their bellies are so fat.
