No problem. Just have a potential customer send in the schematic of their business so AI can decide what tech to dispatch.
A typical wire tech installation usually consists of running or hooking up a drop to a single spot, testing signal at that location and leaving. You get your router shipped to you. Unless you have a very small business that probably won’t work for a lot of them. They don’t want to find out some equipment won’t work in parts of their locations and have to go to their local Best Buy to figure out how many additional routers they need, where to place, etc. Perhaps they have been trained or have the knowledge to resolve these issues. No telling with AT&T but if they are indeed going after the smaller fish they need to try and make sure most can be handled with a single dispatch.
Seems like we are attempting to get more small business share. What is the dividing line between what training is needed or historically has been the dividing line between SSIM work and regular Core work for business? If indeed you have SSIM techs basically running a drop and installing a router/routers why do you need 2 organizations to accomplish this?
This is very bad for BFS and business customers. I predict lots of BFS surplus activity by the middle of 2026 due to work pirating from AFO.
BFS….thats the overpaid wire tech group.
And the AT&T/Lumen deal is now scheduled to close Jan 1.
January gonna be fun.
Happy New Year.
if AFO had no work as it was why the he-l would they put them together!!
AFO techs get one job a day and this has been going on for over a year but no surpluses!!
BSF has a little more since they run drops to businesses like the prem techs do, but again they get maybe 2 jobs a day!!
Sounds like bs unless someone has some actual proof or email please share
WHO CARES?
It means nothing to me. They’ve changed what organization we’re in 5 times in the past years. This company’s solution to everything is constantly reorganizing the deck chairs on the titanic.
BFS 2 AFO, WTH!
@b8 the fact that there is no distinguishing the two would explain the reorg.
It's sad some are so far removed from reality they don't know what Business Field Services or ATT Field Operations is. The ones actually doing the work.
Business fiber services, AT&T field operations
@a4 now they will have the wire tech numbers and managers
@OP so glad I left ssim and went to engineering
Need less managers.
More techs parked in the shade…
I CANT WAIT TO CLICK A BUTTON AND GET A JOB
WFH moving to RTO effective 1/2/2026
In other news, the CIA, NWS, FSB and FBI are merging and moving to Dallas.
Also, this just in: GFY.
What is BSF and AFO. Good lord speak man!
Care to decipher?
Just wait for the consolidation of tech roles and management.
Headcount reduction incoming.
Support staff cuts absolutely on the way.
SSIM has been in AFO for years now with all the wire tech work...lol
