Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

EH is administration is failure!! Fatality!!

it has been more than one year since EH got CEO job.

I know Nike production is made and delivered in 6 to 9 months to consumers through Futures program to their store.

Now he has no excuse to use JD's incompetence as excuse for having top of the line classic Nike product in Nike store's HASH WALLS by tons with deep discount.
EH was one who OKd Air Jordans to be relegated to Hash Wall in Nike store!!!
And he launched Skims line after looong delays
And I have seen CNBC interview which he seemed to come out with typical corporate BS during entire interview!!

One might say that one year is too short to judge a CEO performance but when you don't see anything positive then it is better to do it early rather than later

He has not come out with any new significant new trent or styles and at the same time he has relegated Nike classics to trash status.

Is there any winner in Beaverton?

Blame Jordan Mills for long Skims delay.

You say yourself it takes 6-9 months to deliver the product to retail. How much additional time does it take to design and engineer the product in that pipeline? We’re still on JD time. And that’s not including innovation timelines which are much longer. There are glimmers of hope but, alas, I too am concerned that the backbone of Nike has been let go in favor of Ivy League MBAs more focused on their CVs and portfolios than commitment to the company.

@a2 What’s crazy is, I look around and the people leading each sport, whether they’re GM or functional lead, barely know anything about the sport. How can you build a winning strategy if you don’t even follow sports??

“@OP when a team has bad record then you have let the head coach go and maybe the AD. Because you cannot fire the players”

It’s time for PK to completely step aside. He’s making terrible decisions, including the hiring of JD.

It appears that PK chose poorly again. Should have hired ES instead. At least he understood product which is what Nike sorely needs right now.

@OP when a team has bad record then you have let the head coach go and maybe the AD. Because you cannot fire the players.

In same token, they cannot fire the employees. You have to fire CEO and new CEO will come and will do anything that is necessary including firing employees that are culpable or unnecessary.

I think Nike as team failed and not going to right direction therefore we have to cut the head coach.

The current leadership rot runs deep. When the Consumer Direct Offense was introduced, the radical personnel changes around that time reset the future leader pipeline. For the last ten years the people hired weren’t chosen for being real sport people. Now the company is suddenly trying to shift back to obsessing sport, but the current leaders don’t know how to work in that setup and a lot of them aren’t even interested in it. The culture is broken. The people who built Nike are gone. The move to focus on DTC did way more harm than people realize.
