The Middle Class is done.

We are now in the era of the Haves and Have Nots.

Nothing more to add here.

I think the problem with "taxing the rich" is the rich always figures out ways to get around things. You think Charlie is taking all of his 30+ million home in cash and getting taxed in normal brackets? So many execs are taking deferred home (pushing the tax burden out) and ensuring they have tax deductions to ensure they look poor. Too many ways for the rich to get around not having to pay taxes in the first place.

It's subjective. The so-called "have not's" in this country still have much more than ever in history. Are we calling those with expensive phones, tv's, internet and some type of housing have not's now? The only thing socialism will do is turn us into a country of only have not's, but since we've been taught to h@te people who have some type of decent income, I'm sure many will be delighted with that.

i'd venture to say that the revolution has already started, on both left and right. both mandani and bannon are pointing to the same issue, they only disagree about how we get there. we are not 'tax-cuts-for-wealthy' our way out of this one. something will happen for sure, i just dont know when

well @aa nails it.... this is so true:
"society will be forced to decide between redistribution, or straight up revolution"

@be
I know, right?
This is the same story for decades. It gets traction wit every new generation that gets introduced into the reality of the forces at work.
They think taxing the sh-t outta people is the way to build wealth and level the playing field--until that too fails.

The socialists wont care if you work from home because you'll be unemployed and digging in the local landfill for your sustenance. Embrace at your own risk.

Adam Smith, the Wealth of Nations, warned about a capitalist system where the government served the wants of the merchants and manufacturers. He promoted a strong government was in place to protect the interests of the masses.

We do not have that. We have politicians bought by the merchant class (capitalists).

Adam Smith’s merchant class did not include small business owners. They too needed protection from the capitalists who wish to er--t barriers on competition.

The US is the farthest thing from free market capitalism.

Socialism, lol. No thanks, I don't want everyone to be equally poor. The USSR had more land, more resources, more scientific geniuses etc. then you could shake a stick at, and it still failed miserably and completely. Other people being poorer isn't going to make you happy.

Hard disagree with this statement here: "Capitalism, a system in which you need to work and you can then migrate upward from have not to have/wealthy, provides opportunity."

I don't even necessarily think that democratic socialism is the answer. But, I do think the public needs to start fighting extreme with opposite extreme, because moderation and trust seems to be outright lost. So the only way to bring back some modicum of what should be upward mobility, we need 4 years of su-king the wealthy dry to hopefully reach some level of equilibrium.

The system right now is absurdly top heavy.

Socialism, not capitalism, will bring a society closer to the have and have nots. Capitalism, a system in which you need to work and you can then migrate upward from have not to have/wealthy, provides opportunity. Socialism robs of opportunity. Opportunity is the key. In socialism, the minute you gain, the government robs your earnings in high taxes. Socialism is also the bedrock for communism, where all private property is confiscated.

We need to vote in democratic socialists and start heavily taxing the wealthy. At some point (probably soon) society will be forced to decide between redistribution, or straight up revolution.

It's a new era indeed. One where CEO's of various companies (including ours) brazenly brag about cutting their work force, as if it's some badge of honor. Meanwhile, the very same companies are reporting significant profits and stock buybacks.

The biggest winners right now are those who hold assets.
