Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Hard work won't save you

I’ve been laid off twice in the past 10 years. The first time hit me hard after giving 18 years to one company and routinely working 10-14 hour days. I learned loyalty can vanish in an instant. Now I stick to doing my work and nothing extra. Jobs can disappear anytime, and most companies couldn’t care less about their employees.

I am loyal if the paychecks are coming in. If technology passed me by, I am hanging on until I get paid. Loyalty is a one way street..

Did you ever really do anything extra? Or just venting because you were jilted? Loyalty is getting paid.

ATT certainly does NOT care about its employees

Long before stanks recent tirade about loyalty, he referred to employees as human capital...a simple line item on a balance sheet. He also referred to your time here as a journey and not a career.

So why did you ever hope for more than that?

No, crying won't help you, praying won't do you no good

OP-
You are 100% correct! This is for everyone, when your number is up, you are gone and we all are just a number to T.

@a5

Flushed down the toilet right about the time that an oppositional relationship was forced onto us by our overlords. No pride in working hard for those shitbags.

@OP If it took you that long to figure that out, you seriously need help. It would only take a year or less to know that MOST, not all, companies don't care about their most valuable asset, their employees. ATT certainly does NOT care about its employees and they proved it with internal memo and public news articles. Just work your 5x8 job and go home to your family and friends. Work is work and it should stay in the office and should not interrupt your personal time. Don't mix your business and personal times as it will corrupt your family time. Peace

American. What happened to pride in working hard and doing your best?

What happened to the American in AT&T? Oh, that's right, they officially changed it not to stand for anything other than a bunch of letters.

They will teach that to the Indian new hires , give it a few years. Their heads are as thick as their accents, so it may take longer than normal.
