Fidelity / Veritude being investigated for H1B violations

It looks like Fidelity / Veritude is being investigated for H1B violations for offering jobs to H1B folks before offering positions to Americans.

If you think Fidelity is breaking the law, then contact the Dept of Labor. Project Firewall will investigate.

@zg, yes I can attest as one American. One thing to add, when we Americans put our mind on something we do justice to it. For example, my son is struggling with computability and complexity course in college now dealing with finite state automata, something I doubt the h1bs ever heard of. Without proper training, one can only produce sh*TTYL code like the h1b does. This is the cost incurred by the cheap h1bs

@xj, your first sentence is broken but its meaning is apparent. I stared at your second "sentence" for quite a while and still can't make sense of it. Consider this "area for improvement" for your year end performance review.

@pv, "the (IT) skills" you talked about are no moats. Not many Americans posses the skills two decades ago not because they can't master it but rather it was not as fashionable as MBAs, doctors or bankers.

With the computer science program full in every university now, Americans' attitude toward IT changes. They want to take the jobs back, that's it.

They should not hire so many visas no need. Fido uses H1Bs as scapegoats with PIPs instead of RIF's.

I wouldn't doubt it. Too many Americans are unemployed, lots of firms giving the impression of hiring, but not actually doing it. Economy is bad, Biden's Administration hid numbers and cooked the books. Look around your neighborhood! How are small businesses doing? Lots of for lease, for sale, etc. Too many companies posting jobs, with hundreds, yes hundreds, of overly qualified candidates, then reposting. I've been noticing this for 2 years plus! Schwab laid of 2000 about 1.5 years ago. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if Fidelity follows...sorry, just take a look at jobs on LinkedIn. Sorry state of the economy for all. I for one am hoping putting Americans first, means Americans!

@pm horrible behavior???

Give me break, look at your own history and check how your own ancestors have treated people.

Where were these “law upholding” citizens when ya’ll needed someone to build things most people lacked skills????

Such a classic American tale this is turning out to be, befriending when it suits your agenda and demeaning a group once YOU feel they are stealing jobs.

As MLK once said, Americans are not friends to anyone, they only care about their own self interest.

@jc The Americans are just noticing the horrible behavior of the Indians and you are calling them racist for wanting our hard earned fair employment laws to be observed.

After reading through all the comments and seeing so much hate for both sides, one thing is for certain neither of such toxic individuals deserve to be in fidelity, and certainly not in American society.

We don't want American values defined by hate, judgement, prejudice, and at the same time we don't want anyone who disrespects our values.

Everyone has a place in society and meaningful contribution.

If neither side agrees, then none of y'all deserve a place in the American society nor in this firm.

Fidelity is one of the biggest users of H1Bs, so, yeah, we know they are breaking the law. More than half my department is Indians.

And, yes, they violate American employment civil rights laws and only hire Indians. One Indian becomes twenty. Everyone else plays fair but them.

I had a "fly over country" squad leader who thought API calls meant physically picking up a phone and making a call.

So if you're asking why Fido is recruiting H1Bs despite all their issues....that's why

I've had some experience working at Fidelity with H1Bs. Graduates of Engineering colleges in their home country who don't know a loop from a standard 'if then else' statement. I learned that there were workshops being run using production like data for new H1b hires by other experienced Fidelity H1Bs so they would be able to write a simple select statement against the database for the application they were supposed to be supporting. Not all were like this, of course. And there were plenty of incompetent people from US around as well. The companies like Tata and other India based agencies are making money hand over fist - exploiting the Indian contractors. It's a bad situation all around.

@ds, if I understand you correctly, the mistake they make subconsciously themselves is to mistaken the seemingly many but percentagewise few big tech CEO's of their heritage as 'prototypical' of them, while in reality it's the 'exceptional' of them. The d-mb guy sitting beside us who can't get into IIT and only has a fake diploma from a boot-camp IS the prototypical of them.

I don't know anything about AI. But isn't 'AI' = 'All Indians'? Which is true in most of the Fidelity tech teams.

@bc there's also another equally bigger democracy which are beneficiary of H1.

And let me tell you these are not the smartest as they are rejected by tougher admission standards in their own country.

So yeah, even the rejected ones are far superior than an American grad from elite institution.

Wonder what it says about us😂

This always makes me chuckle 😂

When entitled individuals realize they aren't good enough, instead of accepting the fact they cry fowl blaming others 🤡

Wonder when we will learn from our history, maybe our ancestors should have faced same backlash from natives 🇺🇸😂

@b2 this is my favorite corporate behavior. Encouraging the most inefficient ways of doing things.

Having things done poorly that they break constantly, and then glorify the saviors that come and fix things. (But at least you didn't use chatgpt, so we're good)

No business wants individuals who feel entitled about themselves, just because of who they are.

It's capitalism working at its peak, simple as that. There's a reason why other countries are leading everywhere while Americans remain confused in college singing Acapellas in 90s and now confused about their own gender.

@b0 The "messy, half baked" work you're talking about won't even be possible if not for the individuals you're targeting 😂

Try learning how to join tables without using chatgpt, then talk about messy 🤡

@ad the dirty work no American is willing to do describes it succinctly. Because no American in their right mind would do such messy work. It's all mess, half baked. All pace, no perfection.

@OP, have you written to your local representatives? I did, and I'm not even American.

Those who cry "racist" or "incompetent" here are the passive and aggressive parts of the same perpetrators. As smart and competent as you are, you still can't read the room now?

Given the scheme exposed by the fired Walmart Global Tech VP and 1200 h1-b contractors, Fidelity Talent Source needs to be investigated.

@a8 Fidelity HR is a woke joke. Look across any BU over the last 4-5 years, are you seriously saying the majority of people that have been hired are actually good? Do you ever wonder why our call centers are predominantly non-H1B folks? I wonder why.
