Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

RSUs

I cannot find the thread this was being discussed on but there is some confusion about whether vesting stops at the notification date or the termination date. So I asked HR directly. At least in the US, we will get any RSUs that vest prior to the termination date (in my case 9/22). If you are in a different location you may want to confirm with HR.

I was in the Fusion Org and would have hit my 25 year anniversary next month. Overall my immediate team lost about a 1/3 of its headcount.

Finally take care of yourselves. Oracle itself had its goods and bads like most things, but I was truly fortunate to work with some amazing people for this long. Remember that EAP benefits are still there (for 3 months) if you need them.

Their fuzzy language is intentional. We should not have to reach out to unanswered numbers or emails to get this basic info. This whole process has been so disappointing, I was held at security for half an hour the day I was let go, to call HR and it went to a dead line. I’ve had to rewrite my experience there with this knowledge—this is a corrupt company. But still grateful for my awesome team and some amazing people.

We have to remember that Oracle is really a law firm that happens to have to have a tech component. They know how to do this without breaking the law. Does it su-k I'm losing 50% of the RSUs they gave me in lieu of a promotion? (See the other thread!) Yep. Can I do anything about it? My lawyer and O's say nope.

@b2 Sounds like O wants the RIF to be as smooth and lawfare free as possible.

Interesting, I just Googled "rsu rif class action" and looks there might be something there if there is an element of age discrimination. My 25th anniversary would have been next month. My manager told me part-time and close- to-retirement prople were targeted for the RIF and I personally checked both of those boxes. And my manager's words not mine, "I can't believe I am letting my top perforner go. It is crazy." I see soooo many posts from people with 20+ years. I wonder how many there are of us and whether we could get a class action law suit going for this?

Thank you for confirming this. The contradictory information in the other thread(s) was distressing. At least that's something after 18 years :(

@am, the reason Oracle requires you to click through to accept your RSUs is so you accept the terms and conditions of the incentive stock program, one of which is RSU grants go away if you leave the company for any reason before they vest.

Your argument would go nowhere in a court of law, you agreed to the deal.

I saw that post too so I reached out to STOCK_US and got the same answer you did from HR... as long as you are active in the HR and Payroll systems, all RSUs with a vesting date prior to 9/22/25 will be vested. My manager and his manager also told me the same.

On a related, but different note, I think it is a scam that all RSUs are not vested when you are RIF'd. The RSUs were given as incentive to stay at Oracle and they were in lieu of compensation that was earned as a top performer. In my opinion, a stand up company would vest all RSUs upon RIF because you are not leaving at your choice and you earned those RSUs. I wonder how that argument would do in a court of law?

@OP re rsu’s I really hope this is true. Time will tell. It would be quite cr&p of the company to cancel 3 weeks before the vest date. I would not put it past them though so not getting my hopes up.
