I keep seeing posts on this site saying things like “I’d work at Walmart before I ever work at UHC again” and “this company treats its employees horribly”. I guess it really depends on your specific job and manager, but I’ve never felt that way.
I work remotely (at least for now), get almost 6 weeks of pto, have a relatively easy job that pays me probably $30k above my market rate if I were to look elsewhere, and I’m not micromanaged at all. I could easily leave during the day and nobody would care, my manager only reaches out when they need me, not to make sure I’m online.
I’m not accusing anyone on here of lying about their bad experiences, I completely believe that there are bad managers and departments that treat their employees horribly. But mine doesn’t, and just like any job I think it’s tough to make generalizations about a large company. Unless you’re really well connected to everywhere at the company, I feel like most people’s experiences only apply to their specific team.
