@OP define ‘layoff’. If you define ‘layoff’ as one of the old-style massive layoffs ala 2008, 2019. Then you are correct. However @OP times have changed. The perpetual stealth layoffs are now the done thing. And yes many are quietly being laid off now. And yes many more are being set up for their layoff via a PIP. You can’t be on the governments handout te-t with mass layoffs in the news.
