Big focus on efficiency, margin preservation, and removing the “overhead role expenses”.

@OP to sustain CAM facility must run much leaner and more efficiently. The overhead roles vs individual contributor worker bees(billable hours) is not sustainable. Too many overhead roles…basically read out roles…all can be automated
Probably moving everything in Cambridge+Kitchener (i.e. the whole medium voltage business and OTTO) to the newly announced facility to be built in Wisconsin. That would explain why they aren't backfilling any roles there.
@e78 well the cuts are inevitable. Quite layoffs.
Despite the fairly good margins, the revenue is low and overall profitability is not good. The tariffs are not helping!
Too Many “powerBi filter adjusting” managers / operation leads without any decision making or problem solving capability who are not really critical to presale activity, revenue generation , order execution, delivery, profitability.
Sadly, a few good employees are about to retire soon.

Can’t comment for the Cambridge office staff, but a few folks on shop floor will retire in the coming weeks.
Many managers/senior leaders are scheduled to retire, or be encouraged to retire, or be silently laid off in Q2. I had announced my retirement in April 2026. My role will not be backfilled
@OP a whole bunch of US and Canada folks will retire in Q2. The RTO enforcement will come into play.
No backfill roles are approved.
Many depts (commercial, product management etc.) are operating with less than a skeleton crews not clear what the end game is. Lets see what q2 bring us
I anticipate to see quiet non-publicly announced layoffs / head count reductions across many locations. Sadly most of the top contributors are on the edge of quitting or retiring.

@6rj well that facility has a lot of inefficiencies and opportunities to optimize the BU. Some teams, strategically critical roles, are severely underesourced and drowning whereas other teams are bloated. A textbook example of suboptimal resource allocation.
Many “make believe” managers in “siloed depts” are not really not critical to presale activity, revenue, execution, delivery, and profit. Sadly New employees see these managers are role models and start mirroring their behaviour all leading
@OP well the MV business is a non growing business. Holding onto status quo for as long as possible or at least until key folks decide to retire or move on. No visible strategy/vision/mission.

@6ez sounds about right. The knowledge transfer will be a challenge. Most of the managers are fairly close to retirement and as such they are too expensive to RIF.
@5xb they will not be RIF'd. They are all 30+ years with db pension. Next few years, the problem will solve itself as they all retire. The obvious problem is lack of knowledge transfer and, probably, losing those headcounts permanently and replacing them in Asia (most likely as it's been happening for awhile). I assume they are renovating it to accommodate the back to office mandate.

The business will let attrition some of these execution roles.

@4wk Blake is a fraud. He cares nothing about any country and is just into performative actions. No value. Rockwell will be purchased in the next 5 years
@4h4 well we can see investments in US locations. Not clear if the business will invest in Canadian locations (perhaps office renovations etc.)
@OP i honestly cant see layoffs at a Cambridge facility. The Cambridge facility is already running very lean. Most teams are running with less than the skeleton crews.
I support Buy American Build American (Baba). The American people can build a lot of high quality stuff.

@4h4 - the reports only mention "greenfield" (Lower case g). Greenfield Ave? That is the mke facility. City of Greenfield? There isn't a lot of undeveloped land there. Is the mall being repurposed? I am sure there is a tax difference between the two cities!
It was announced today that a 1 million square foot manufacturing facility will be built in Southeast Wisconsin, could this be another nail in Cambridges coffin?

@OP my husband along with many othet just got laid off from ats in cambridge. I am trying desparately to bring him onboard in cambridge plant where I work. We are both born and raised in Cambridge and relocation is not an option for us.
Any tips or advices?
