Thread regarding Mutual of America Life layoffs

Capital Management Employees are Overpaid

Capital Management Employees are vastly overpaid $$$ compared to almost every other division in the company+

out of the 35+ people, almost all are EVPs, SVPs, or VPs+Raking in $250K-$400K per year or much more+All the extra employee comp & bonus money is being funneled over to Capital Management+They get quarterly bonuses unlike other employees in the company+That is not fair+Their jobs are easy with them relying on AI computer stock picks as they mimic those recommendations along with the analysts+It's time to rein in this area+Company could save $10M w/o Capital Management+Company would make more $$$ by having better performing outside funds with lower expense ratios but tacking on additional fees to drive revenue++too much bloat w/ Capital Management++Hardly anyone is investing in their institutional funds outside of retirement plans & they have spent a ton to get on various platforms+Assets are down over $1B YOY which is 7% of portfolio+Meanwhile, there are no layoffs & employees of that division keep getting new titles and big big salaries and raises.

this year, the vast majority of the funds are near the bottom of their peer rankings & only three funds are in the top 50%. So, 3 funds out of 28--off to a very rocky start in 2026--looks like it will be a down yr+time to cut salaries, perks, & jobs in that division+lots of favoritism going on there--------

Lipper awards were excellent but company couldn't find a way to get news out & more plans & money keeps leaving. WTF is going on ?

the company is scared to raise revenue. Is NY DFS preventing the company to implement revenue enhancers ? The big three are managed accounts in group plans, in plan annuities w/income base, and ancillary fees such as surrenders and MVAs. If company can find a way to raise revenue quick, its all over. firm needs to reign in executive salaries, perks, and health care costs. Anthem is rap-ing over the coals .

YTD Rankings. MoA funds. Most are towards the bottom of the peer medians. The higher the percentile rank, the worse the performance. The lower the performance means less revenue for MoA and poorer returns for clients which force clients out to bid. The funds are more conservative so they are designed to make less money and to generate less revenue. Go figure. Through 1/23/26:

analysis is spot on incredible ! Waste, fraud, abuse, corporate malfeasance at its finest. Most of their trades, like 75%, lose money. Just look at the SEC filings. Nothing to shake a stick at of hang ones at on necessarily and computer driven mimic picks rule the day. It's disgusting how much that division is favored. They have got it on easy street.

@29t one would think the $500k-$1,000,000 paid executives would be one step ahead and already thought of this but they are just focused on picking up their paychecks instead of solving real problems.

@21q Let's face it, have Malaki do an experiment. Have him run several shadow portfolios with AI, Quant Picks. You can subscribe to those services for under $1K a year, and then 12-18 months, compare the returns to the Capital Management overpaid dream team. Bet your Prediction Markets bottom dollar AI out performs & will save $$$ & generate more cash & revenue. Then, can 75% of Capital Management and move the rest of the team including Jimmy Garrafolo to Bermuda for the tax havens.

All the smart Financial firms are ditching NY and moving to West Palm, Tampa and Ft Lauderdale. Better schools and quality of life. And no state or city taxes.

They are posting for two more useless VPs. What an utter disgusting waste. Company wants to cut travel budgets and replace it with two VPs making $600 grand. We need more people on the front lines, not in the 34th floor ivory tower.
