Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Notice

Those of us impacted by the FIS sale, please be aware that FIS is scheduled for a major reduction in force on November 19th. Word is this will include many of us that were hoping for a stable place to land.
The wonderful company we work for is also about to make another cut. Some managers met yesterday, other meetings will be held this week. It doesnt look good. So glad I started applying to other places. I am done with this bs.

Sorry to hear I was part of the August rif and still looking, my issue is my age, I poured over 40 years into one company and now have to start over, nobody is hiring people my age unfortunately so they really have put me in a world of hurt. Hope I’m not homeless soon.

@261 here again. One of the most ironic things is that the same day i got laid off from tsys / global is the same day next yr I started the other job. But to be honest I believe with all my heart that the american economy is failing. The dollar is going to crash very soon and we will be put on digital currency and blackmailed to participate to not be homeless and hungry.

This is @261. Not only did it take a year to find a job but I had to relocate all the way to alpharetta to work at the fiserv office.

@fz got laid off a year ago from tsys/global payments during one of their most famous quarterly layoffs. Took 1 yr to find a job and its not even a developer job which is what I was doing

I am a manager on the FIS side and there seems to be confirmation that something big is scheduled for 11/19, sadly.

@1gd No evidence, except pretty much all of human history. The rich and powerful will always want to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else. We're used to a post-WWII society which was built on empathy, where the rich and powerful had their wealth and power reined in. Since then, they're slowly been clawing it all back. Then don't give a sh-t about anyone but themselves. Sadly, people have convinced themselves that this time around it'll be different! The millionaires, billionaires and, soon, trillionaires who exist care now suddenly care about others. Meanwhile, they'll happily upend thousands of people's lives if they think it'll make the slightest difference to their stocks. And even if it doesn't, they'll still get their bonus.

Unfortunately, this will never be over at any company. Every tech company is laying people off - mostly U.S. citizens - in favor of H1B and other work visa's or doing what we do and adding new "full time" teams in India or Mexico city. Hopefully Trumps $100k fee will help some, but will only impact new out of country applications. They must do more however.

Good luck. If I'm ever laid off, I figure it will take 4-6 months to get a new job based on what I'm seeing in the market.
