Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

You know it's time to move on when

Young adults same age as your kids, with only months to a year of real job experience are hired to do the same job you are, but making more money. It's an insult and a slap in the face!

@yn

The many geniuses and over qualified with zero experience would like a word with you... Obviously (!) you become great through a silver spoon firmly scooped into a nether region at birth. Were you born yesterday? Everyone knows the older generation doomed everyone and nobody can do anything truly productive, or they JUST are part of the problem. Stick it to the man.

I'm helping.

@1c0 People were hired to do work. The people they hired specifically might be another story.

@yn pretty sure the company hired massive amounts of people in 2023 to do little to no work so they can get a tax benefit. You gain experience by getting experience on the job, not by watching some unemployed person on YouTube talk about data analytics.

@c3 thats on you. If your job is so routine and boring why are you not on stack overflow or similar, he-l, even in xchange going through some courses. Like others have pointed out: learning isn't some magical thing that happens, you have to participate, or even better yet, drive it. Options are out there, don't wait for someone to hand it out, take charge and go get it. It's the only way to know you're going to get it, and the way you want it.

“I get your point. But I’m a young person and I want to gtfo. Bored out of my mind, not learning and talking to the same 2 people everyday. Not sure how everyone else feels though.”

We want you to leave, too.

@bk You smoking? When I got a job I had to learn with no job before I got hired. Now people come in not even knowing basic sh-t. If you don't hold their hand they get passive aggressive thanks to Marxist brainwashing

@c3 How are you not learning in a technical job. What do you expect to happen that you suddenly are learning LOL

Yea that is a problem with Fiserv, get rid of long-term knowledgeable employees, and in return you get a new kid that knows Zero about banking for the same price.
I mean - how stupid does that even sound?

Welp, you pay for what you get!

Innovation is not in Fiserv's DNA. They buy, bleed, then toss things to the side.

Don't begrudge the new young ones. Many of them are starting their careers with financial burdens we didn't have starting out.

People should know by now to switch jobs every 5 years or so to make meaningful salary jumps. Companies don't reward loyalty and even if you get promoted, the salary jump won't be much. Take the new title, put in a year or so, then jump ship for a lot more money.
