Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are you a Leader or a Follower?

I encourage you to be a leader of your own life, not follow the path that Wells Fargo is attempting to sell us on. You know the sales pitch: If you care about Wells Fargo, you will accept the facts as we present them. 25% of you must go, so that 75% of you might (wink, wink) survive. It’s ok - it’s business. Sorry that up you might have to go, but we do need to try to get that stock price back up.

No thank you. Somehow, they have bamboozled some followers into passing out the Kool-aid. These are the same people who would recruit you into a cult or a pyramid scheme. They are Followers, without an independent thought of their own. Their skill set is following whoever the Leaders of the Day are. As long as everything turns out for them, they are perfectly fine with anything negative that happens to you. I understand their psychology, but I don’t want any part of it. I don’t want my success to be built on others failing. I haven’t had to go that low yet, and I’m doing just fine.

And no - the employees who don’t buy into the corporate propaganda are not “deadweight” as the Followers attempt to pitch out. Not true. In fact, it’s often the other way around. Those who are smart and skilled and experienced are not easily persuaded into buying into whatever the current sales pitch is. We maintain high standards and moral principles and have empathy towards our teammates, no matter who is in charge. Personally, I don’t have much respect for those who fall at the feet of a leader who is getting paid in the tens of millions of dollars for cutting off 25% of his employees at their knees. Who raised these people? Who wants to follow a bunch of Followers?

It’s much easier to be a Follower. You automatically are accepted by all the other followers, you are told what your purpose is. It requires less intellectual work. You don’t have to question as much, you just accept and say “yes”. Yes-men.

I choose not to be a follower, and I encourage all Wells Fargo employees to seek something better for yourselves. Don’t die on the Wells Fargo vine. Forge your open path, listen to your gut, and get off the horse-drawn Stagecoach and get on to a 21st century forward-moving company while the choice is still yours, not theirs. Go to work for a company that is already thriving and who views you as an asset rather than a cost that must be eradicated.

If that's the case, then you must keep "coming back" because I'm right about you. Fun little maxim you have there.

Maybe poor grammar and convoluted thinking cause you lose you marriage, work here cause you to move you’s back in parents basement due to the low pay. I should have never left previous company I worked at as still have a great job. Spell checking cr's not Senior Software Engineer require logical thinking. No work for high pay with no logic.

Not that this little tete-a-tete is any of my business but before you start dishing out life advice to others, you might want to reread what you posted. Your post unbelievingly condescending even by the standards of what gets posted here.

Here’s what I know: You wouldn’t keep coming back if there wasn’t a part of you that knows deep down I’m right about you.

Maybe I’m doing you a favor by telling you something that will help you succeed in life. What I’m telling you is that you probably have more to offer the world than the bs you post out here. Try being better, and you might notice your life gets better. What do you have to lose?

Yes, people care about their jobs, their employer and layoff situations, but absolutely no one cares about your ridiculous 'points scoring' nonsense. "I'm ahead 99-1, haha!". That waste of time is what no one cares about.

Post ID: @1ttv+19DtpVxy 100% agree with you. I am sick of the childish condescending commentary. I did see one of them had all of their comments removed on a post from a few days ago. Nothing having to do with diversity or politics - just pure nastiness. That also told me that all the replies on that one post (approx 25 separate nasty replies) were from one person. Who in the world has that much time on their hands and that much ugliness to them?

So everyone keep that in mind. Most of the ugly comments out here are probably coming from one pathetic poster.

Post ID: @1ast+19DtpVxy People care. You drag down the forum with your petty bs comments. If you were half as witty as you think you are, perhaps we could benefit from your “contributions”. I find it hard to believe you actually might work at WFC, because apparently your only skill set is pissing on everything.

It's funny that you think you're the one keeping score, or that anyone cares what you think the score is. Breaking news: they don't.

Ok you score 1 point. You still are down 99 for sounding like a simple-minded angry troll. Yay.

Might want to work on your reading comp, I didn't say anything about defending the company. I didn't say anything about the CEO. What I will say is that anyone that uses 'less-than-intelligent' instead of the more efficient and identical "unintelligent", probably is. My post has nothing to do with the company, and everything to do with the OP being an id–t with weak argumentative skills.

'Rah rah, real leaders should leave!' as you sit there, not leaving. Unimpressive and hypocritical.

Defend the organization? Your reading skills leave something to be desired apparently. Nice story though.

Collectively, you are all taking down the country’s average IQ. And the hilarious part is that you are proud of yourselves. You do WFC a disservice by your less-than-intelligent attempts to defend the organization. If I were Charlie, I would ask you stay to please stay off social media. You are an embarrassment to him. And you are an embarrassment to anyone who actually does care about Wells Fargo.

@1arm. We could say the same thing about your post.

Apparently you are one of those who thinks your opinion is the only one that’s right. Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one.

Ah yes, the old 'if you agree with me you're cool and if you don't you're a big loser' argument. So grade school. OP your post is full of false premises and subjective opinions. Not everyone agrees, but more importantly, no one really cares. If you don't like the big evil WF, there's the door. Just leave, please. Sitting around whining all day sure as heck isn't "leadership" and no one wants to hear it. Lead your little army of bellyachers right out the door, preferably sooner rather that later.

If you are truly a senior software engineer, you shouldn’t be living in your parents basement unless you are seriously p***ing your money away.

This job cause me to lose me to lose my marriage, working here cause me to move us back in with my parents due to the low pay. I should have never left previous company I worked at as still have a great job. Came here in tech, and there is no technical work, only spell checking cr's. My title is Senior Software Engineer. Do they even know what software engineers do?

@1yma+19DtpVxy LMAO! Take off you rose colored glasses and driving down the one way street called Wells Fargo Avenue! Wells Fargo is a ‘what have you done for me today’ company right now. Yes, they give you PTO and other time off BENEFITS (yes, part of an ‘employees’ package lol). They sure in they heck don’t ever discuss paying someone for all of those hours they put in over 40. Again, LMAO @1yma+19DtpVxy!

This is a good post. OP has a message that every employee should be paying attention to.

I don’t normally comment, but I just happened to be watching when someone jammed through approx 45 downticks within several minutes’ time. I think most people would realize the this, upon looking at the numbers, but I want OP to know that most viewers do recognize the game-play. And that many viewers did appreciate the post. I know I do.

Unfortunately for the game player, the downticks don’t take away from the quality of the message within the post. This is a pro-employee post. I appreciate it.

It’s not sad. It’s just business. Wells is paying you to do a job. You get time off to take care of personal business.

Why should Wells lower the bar for any employee’s performance just because they are going through something. If Wells as a company is struggling you wouldn’t tell HR to only pay you 50% of your salary until Wells gets better. So why should it work the other way...

Wells Fargo has removed almost all caring for their ‘employees’ now. The ‘employees’ have become numbers. I was told last week by a manager, who was talking about someone who had lost a loved one a few months ago, that when you come back from any leave Wells Fargo expects you to perform at the level you were hired to. If you don’t it will go against your yearly appraisal and could impact your overall employment. This is sad!

Not sure why people work in a place like this.

Because they have become convinced that having Wells Fargo on their resume makes them unemployable.

After almost 10 years with the company, I am looking at opportunities outside. I would be more aggressive but am in the middle of what has become an internal investigation into unfair and unethical management review/appraisal/compensation practices. I simply could not keep my mouth shut after 2020 and their ‘guided distribution’. I hope the company can eventually turn things around but they have a long way to go, in my opinion. If an opportunity does come along that is too good to pass up, I will mostly like fight this battle from outside the company.

but its true, why do people stay here? I dont get it.

You can be treated better, make more money and do more rewarding work that makes an impact at most other companies.

Here is like a place bottom performers and id–ts work in. The work they give you s—s too. I have never worked in tech and done such unrewarding work anywhere, only here. Its all fake work, I would guess 75% of it doesnt even need to be done.

Not sure why people work in a place like this.
