The managers had a meeting today to go over updates to the dashboard. Still based on badge swipes (not laptop connection). Expectation is still 3 days a week with manager discretion on adherence. Holidays will no longer count as in office day. Other benefit time still will. Email coming soon.

@1fb

Hello, Citi HR! NO One needs to provide "evidence" of anything.

The evidence is the low morale and the fact that thousands of $hitibank employees post on www.thelayoff.com because No one trusts the VOE.

Keep your head in the sand and continue to buy the castles in the sky Sh!tibank sold youm

But keep wiping $hitibank's And CEO Jane's AS$ES. It seems it's the only thing you're good at.

I'm that slacker, taking advantage of these slugs for the past 2-3 years. This is almost hilarious, bi-weekly paychecks and decent mid-year reviews. Keep up the good work!. I sense my manager does the same, all activity no output.

@1d5 again you have no evidence of your butterfly effect. The evidence suggest the opposite. The other investment banks are doing far better financially with their 5 day RTO mandate. You will not find any other reputable organisation tolerating your entitled requirements. This is why you haven’t left citi yet and why you’re kicking and screaming about a 3 day mandate.

@1cx
Are you being deliberately obtuse?

NOT Everyone who can cause Errors in the hundreds of millions or trillions of US$ is in back office operations OR required to RTO 3 to 5 days per week.

Any and every employee, whether they're front, middle or back office who intentionally under-perform out of spite, Quiet Quitting, doing the Bare Minimum Work. Revenge RTO, intentionally or accidentally causing Errors such as Wiring $900 Million, $18 Trillion, recently a measly $400,000 etc. All affect revenue and profits.

The above actions may INDIRECTLY lower revenue and profits, but the Actions STILL Lower revenue and profits.

It's a domino effect. The effects may also Not be immediate, but the negative behaviours Still affect the bottom line eventually.

Having low quality or incompetent employees the type Citi is only able to attract and retain, also lower profits and revenue.

@18h Are you being deliberately obtuse? Anyone in a position to intentionally or accidentally cause errors on the scale of wiring $900 million, $28 trillion, or otherwise materially affecting revenue and profits is already required to be in the office five days a week

The person actually responsible for the fat finger loss was working from home when the error occurred, so that example doesn’t exactly strengthen your argument.

The people complaining about being asked to come in three days a week for eight hours a day generally aren’t in sales and trading or other revenue generating roles. You can be as deluded as you like, but you’re doing more harm than good by trying to imply a perfectly reasonable working arrangement is somehow an outrageous demand. It’s the people listening to your garbage I worry for, because you’ll be no where to be found when the chickens come home to roost.

Jane DOES care because employees who intentionally under-perform out of spite, Quiet Quitting, doing the Bare Minimum Work. Revenge RTO, intentionally or accidentally causing Errors such as Wiring $900 Million, $28 Trillion, etc. All affect profits and revenue.

The above actions may indirectly lower revenue and profits, but the Actions above STILL Lower revenue and profits.

Heard clarification on what they are announcing, this location will be the testing but they redesigned the Hybrid reporting system that managers use to track it. This new system tracks everything easiely, badge swipes, how many times a week in office and how long so going forward no more swipe in swipe out and staying at the office for only 5 mins from my understanding that's the main reason for the change as of now it doesn't track how long. Manager are being informed they are responsible for tracker their team in the new system.

"Someone hungrier takes your seat for a fraction of the cost." means someone who's of lower or low caliber.

This is the only type of employee Citi attracts and retains.....Incompetent employees and Toxic "managers" who can Not fix Citi and make Citi worse off.

Lather Rinse Repeat Citi's Vicious Perpetual Cycle 🎠🎪⭕️ 🌀 of Consent Orders, Technology Fvckups, Operational Fvckups, Monetary 💵 fines, Regulatory violations, Wire Transfer Errors-Fvckups of Free Money US$900 Million, recently $18 Trillion, $400 Million, ad infinitum.

Lol, here we go again with the threatening “consequences” without considering that the consequences might actually be yours.

Quiet quit and best case? Nobody notices, nothing changes and you’re still dragging yourself into the office three days a week. Worst case? Someone hungrier takes your seat for a fraction of the cost.

And right now, being ex-Citi isn’t exactly a golden ticket. The market is saturated with former Citi staff, and recruiters don’t know who was a poor performer and who simply lost the restructuring lottery. Two of my ex-colleagues were laid off in 2024, spent nearly two years looking for work, and eventually landed roles paying around 60% less. That’s a very expensive protest.

in NYC as well as in Buffalo, for example, childcare for children under 4 costs up to 850 a week

RTO is a tradeoff or choice between the below, which depends on people's expenses, financial and childcare situation:

Make more money AND RTO 4 to 5 Days each week,

OR

Make less money AND RTO 3 Days each week.

Transit costs, parking, childcare etc. need to be considered.

Childcare/Daycare in New York City costs an average of $2500 per month for professional daycare, because this is assuming you don't have grandparents or relatives nearby who can do this job, because IT IS A JOB. This is why the UK and other countries actually take Nannying seriously, have schools, training and licensing programs to become a Nanny or Babysitter.

It is NOT a teenager's job or a job for someone who simply advertises babysitting services.

And this is assuming you want professional Daycare workers who will be less likely to abuse or neglect your most precious assets, Not simply someone who claims to want to feed and wipe the As$es of someone else's brats.

And then there are commuting, transit and parking costs in addition to the exhaustion of having to commute 2+ hours or more each day.

@zb

If what you say is true, then employees will simply RRTO Revenge RTO AND do Quiet Quitting = do the Bare Minimum Work, Not share information, Not divulge solutions, Not do extra work :

Research studies show RTO actually does the opposite: cause employees to do the Bare Minimum Work AND Not collaborate.

When employees are forced to waste time and money to RTO (Expenses for: petroleum, parking, public transit, childcare, etc.), Employees are exhausted and will NOT do more than the bare minimum work.

Post ID: @cz+1m12t1tbt

The above will keep Citibank below its envied competitors GS and JPMC, especially when employees RRTO Revenge RTO, keep solutions to themselves And NOT divulge solutions for work problems.

RRTO is real. Several news media reported on it. Google RRTO.

@zb
absolutely agree except for the point that other banks pay more. those who joined after 2020 get market compensation. 80% of people who joined after 2021 that I work with, came from, or at some point before worked for, JPM. while a couple of them had since left for greener pastures ,majority is till here including higher ups. a couple of my colleagues returned to JPM taking cuts but most recall JPM as a very toxic and aggressive confidence ki-ler so returning to JPM would be absolutely last resort.
I am pretty sure that JPM colleagues don't have their WFH 'privileges" removed now after 100% RTO mandate and are expected to WFH after spending 0.5-2.5 h in transit.

Three days in the office, 8 hours a day is actually a pretty generous arrangement. The people threatening to quit while claiming Citi will lose its best staff to JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs are out of touch with the reality of the market.

Citi is one of the last major investment banks still offering this degree of flexibility, and arguably part of the reason it can afford to be more generous on working arrangements is because it struggles to compete with JPMorgan, Goldman, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America on other fronts.

If you move to these other banks you should expect to be in the office five days a week. That means the cute little childcare arrangement you currently have with your husband is unlikely to be transferable to those firms.

Ultimately, if three days in the office is still more than you can accommodate and you need significantly greater flexibility, you may have to look outside investment banking altogether. But that is also likely to mean accepting a less competitive salary and overall compensation package. You can reasonably prioritise flexibility, but it’s unrealistic to assume you can demand the same flexibility while retaining all the benefits of a highly paid, office-intensive investment-banking career…..

Some locations only have swipe in. I.e lift swipe and main door as rest of the open floor is treated as one desk. Also what happens if you have both a laptop and cloud?

@q5+1m12t1tbt:

You are right, also managers are trying their level best to make quit good employees by attacking them with mind games, I saw team where lead completed his complex project and once code deployed to prod they move team to different one and start blaming him for things he is not accountable. Here managers with more than 10 years they thinks playing mind games are management skill rather make team to learn and guide them.

@pq

And the first employees to Quit are the Rated 1s/2s because they have options because they're the best employees.

They can more easily land a new job(s) than the mediocre or low quality employees.

Citi already has lower quality employees compared to its envied competitors, GS and JPMC.

Enforcing RTO will only drive out Citi's best employees who are actually mediocre at best, at GS and JPMC.

Citi is Sh00ting itself in the foot ! 🦶

They want people to quit on their own. I am very frustrated. My husband and I share childcare. My husband drops off the kids in the morning and goes to work later. I get to Citi early and leave at lunch. Then I log in and work more than the required 8 hours a day. I want to be home when my kids arrive. My husband wants to make sure the kids have their lunches and get to school on time. We are underpaid at Citi compared to other large banks. If this becomes policy, then I will be at another firm within a year.

We will find out next week, but I heard it won’t be badge swipes. They can tell when you are logged onto the Citi network on your laptop. That’s how they will track.

@a9 I am not A6 but I am a Director. We have been reinforcing this too and have heard some stricter enforcement in September. It has been a bit vague so far as to what they will monitor too. They just keep telling us to reinforce the requirements and that September will be different.
