@3n3 Explain, how Coforge is the best thing that happened to Sabre. Both Sabre and Coforge have hidden agendas behind the deal, as no sensible company would invest in a dying company with a track record of one failure after another failure both on product side and modernization side. Once, a desperate Google wanted a known client as a customer, for their cloud, and subsidized the Google Cloud for us. Likewise, it seems Sabre is just a stepping stone for Coforge to the airline market!. What prompted Sabre to choose Coforge is still a mystery. There is no brilliance that Coforge has shown so far nor they are known in the market for innovation or addressing complex programs!.

We can fight among ourself while the top is planning heavy cuts which are going to affect US and Poland big time this year. Rumors are that the two big guys - no pun intended - Mr. JDF from our side and Mr. BF from Coforge are best buddies and are working hand in hand to make the cuts happen on both sides. Both know that the Tech Modernization is not going to happen by 2030. It has been an year since Coforge started and they have not been able to deliver any thing significant. But as long as Mr. JDF is saying his buddy Mr. BF and Coforge teams are doing a great job, both sides are happy, while the ship continuous to sink. At the end, we the employees are at the loosing end, while these guys are not going to have any impact . So if our management refuses to see the reality and gladly continuing with Coforge, then both are looking for mutual benefits at the higher levels and gives a s**t to employees or bankruptcy. So expect the hardworking employees to be laid off, while the high levels and the archaic architect team of Sabre to be untouched. Come back in two months time and comment whether this happened or not.

No, you aren't better. There are SOME people in US who can deliver, but en masse Sabre USA hires the cheapest options without any degree, pedigree or clue what they are doing. I've seen too many old boomers who can't even start to comprehend the last 15 years of software development progress.

@1rf I was laid off twice over 22 years even being highly successful. When they offered a very generous package I took it. Those that didn’t were mostly let go.

There are much better paying companies than Sabre with better benefits and actual positive environment.

@2ba yes, good idea. The current offshoring problem is that all locations are fighting each other for the same jobs. If the roles of each location was defined and unique then the locations could each coexist more harmoniously because they would be separated.

Considering the animosity between Sabre's locations, would it be feasible to split Sabre up to several companies, each in a separate location, and each serving a specific, independent, self-sufficient purpose?

Maybe that could solve the outsourcing problems by redoing outsourcing right.

Something no one will talk about on LinkedIn, Glassdoor ect is that any time an Indian has come into power, they only hire buddies through nepotism. So, in addition to a job market saturated by layoffs due to "AI", there is an uphill battle in the job search if you are white, black, hispanic, certain Asian regions etc. This is the trap Sabre has fallen into and will fail. The job market is very rough I have been searching for 5 years for non consulting or contract jobs since leaving Sabre.

@1rf if you are an American (north, central, and south American, makes no difference, as Sabre is basically eliminating everything below executive vice president in AMER) then start working on getting a new job in another company in a stable industry ASAP, unless you have a lot of severance due. Be careful if you choose to wait for the severance though, that is a gamble, because bankrupt companies almost never pay severance. If you are in any other location, if you are cheap then you are relatively safe from layoff this time, but you are only employed because you are cheap, so you will be paid better elsewhere.

We are all nearing the end of the Sabre roller coaster ride. Do you want to hurry off to be at the front of the line for your next one or do you want to exit leisurely to be at the back of the line for your next one?

@1nw The ones who did left the company a long time ago. The present day oldies still have something to offer. The rest of the employees in the U.S. are no better or worse than their Polish or Indian counterparts. The sooner you accept that and the fact that American employees are at the greatest risk of being let go, the better for you.

@1nw American Airlines built Sabre and then Sabre started destroying itself almost immediately after separating from AA.

The first step Sabre took towards its destruction was to outsource its central core to EDS. The second step Sabre took towards its destruction was to replace its onshore labor with offshore labor. The third step Sabre took towards its destruction was for experienced leaders to abdicate their role of providing top-down strategic direction by allowing bottom-up laissez faire tinkering as a substitute for strategy. The fourth step Sabre took towards its destruction was replacing its competent knowledgeable experts with incompetent clueless snake oil salesmen and yes-men enablers.

Newer is not always better.

The mainframe is not a crumbling antique.

Moving from the mainframe functionality to the cloud might be cheaper (not including the cost of building the replacement), but it will certainly not be better. It will be more complicated, more difficult to maintain, more difficult to support, less reliable, and much slower. It might not even be cheaper, considering the pitiful progress and cost so far. The cloud replacement of the mainframe might only be newer, but worse in every other way.

One certainty though is that this folly is bankrupting Sabre. Sabre should have spent its time, effort, and money creating a completely new Sabre2 (a real one) and not trying to squeeze the square pegged mainframe into the round holed cloud, but only if that new Sabre2 was actually better than the mainframe-based Sabre.

It's too late now.

@1nw Ha Ha Ha... There we go again. American vs Indian vs Polish. The worker bees, be it American, Indian, or Polish, are working hard. But it is the failure of the SNs, JdFs and their teams of old men, in seeing that the world has moved on, and innovation grounded on reality is an absolute necessity. In the process of self preservation, they kept on glorifying the old knowledge, kept insisting that nothing can match it, they - the guardians have to be there and openly and arrogantly resisted any opportunity to change. First response to any suggestion - "It will not work in our environment". If they know it will not work, then create some thing that works with people who can bring in innovation. Ask third party vendors, including Google on how they feel about us(Sabre employees)!. Why this much arrogance among these old farts when what they created could no longer sustain the company?. Why they prevent fresh thoughts being brought in. Why they are still in positions to block changes, with out accountability for business success. Have you seen any other company where senior leaders do not have responsibility for numbers. Here the old f**ts most making $350k+ never had any accountability to make the numbers, nor will they allow it going forward!. This is what need to be addressed. Not American or Polish or Indian. Let them not divide us!!!.

@1h6 You make some great points. For years, our focus on customer feedback has declined because we’ve lost the visionary clients who inspired new ideas. When you couple that with the years it takes to fix legacy issues, it’s no wonder customers have stopped asking for improvements—they feel unheard. While clearing out the 'dead wood' is a positive move, we need to address these deeper service gaps. Here’s hoping for the best for all of us.
