If you believe the press reports about Foot Locker, Finish Line, and other retailers falling short on their numbers, each of them mention Nike's lack of a true (or new) innovation pipeline. As a shareholder & employee I ask, where is the... — read more
Ageism is hard to prove
I was researching the possibility of an ageism lawsuit, and ran into this article. It's a good read, if somewhat discouraging. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/07/business/dealbook/shown-the-door-older-workers-find-bias-hard-to-prove.html?mcubz=0 One... — read more
This is what Nike has come to
As an engineer with many months at NDT, I have witnessed all of it: Multiple "boys club" style POs talking about technical topics that they don't even understand at fundamental level and pushing back on ideas coming from engineering teams. They... — read more
We finally made the news
These layoffs have finally made news, it was about time. Well, if we can call one article news, but it's something. Somebody at Nike needs to be held accountable for what is going on, and some press can at least put some pressure on the higher-ups... — read more
It's not just Ageism... It's H1B Abuse too!
Tech w/in Nike is loaded with a 100s of H1Bs. I didn't see a single one being asked to leave or an American worker re-assigned to replace an H1B with similar or better skills. I'm semi familiar with that law, and I think Nike may be violating the... — read more
Out with the old, in with the young...
WHQ has around 70% 30 years old or younger employees. Basically favoring youth over experience. Perhaps this has something to do with Nike losing its US market share in the first place?
Make it count
Let's take a count of the layoff trends! Indicate years of service, age, gender. I can bet you they are all long time and faithful employees

Checking out
Dear peer forum - after 26 years my number was up today. I was not expecting such an end to an otherwise very rewarding and fulfiling career. Had hard time facing kids tonight, other than that I think I am in peace. So long Nike and let us see what... — read more
To those laid off
Will you ever support the brand in any way again? I'm not sure if it's an initial anger but I want to literally burn all my Nike gear. I won't but I just can't see myself or my family ever buying the swoosh again.
Successful Employee at Nike is an Excellent Employee Somewhere Else
Remember this as they walk you out. Keep your chin up.
Any word on whether or not Corporate Services was hit? Curious to know what is happening with Space Planning?
I heard they are outsourcing the majority...
Any Word on the NADTC firing?
I'm wondering how much this will effect our retail portion (campaigns and such).
Nike Gold Badge
If you are over 60 and if you get laid off do they issue a new Gold Badge? Anyone had this situation?
Laid off or Left Behind… Which is worse?
Though the thought of being laid off is frightening, I'm beginning to think it is the better outcome. This all confirms for me that the Nike of today is not a company I would choose to work for if I were out in the job market. So, If kept, I would be... — read more
Was your non-compete exercised?
If you were laid off, in addition to your severance package was your non-compete exercised?
WTF... I thought Nike was better than this?! Sacrifice the people to save the numbers?!
Why make layoffs like this way?? Sacrifice the people to save the numbers?? imagine if we sacrificed the numbers to save the people. Have everyone take a 2-4 weeks of leave with no pay. TOP to Bottom we all suffer a little so no one will suffer a... — read more
How has leadership not seen this coming?
How has leadership not seen this coming? After the '09 layoffs they put themselves in the same position. They started staffing up again to the point of ridiculousness. Now the people that suffer are those actually putting in work. The leaders will... — read more
Dreading today
I am dreading going in to work today. I don't think I will be able get my high blood pressure down until this week is over - and that'ss if I don't get laid off. I remember a time when working at Nike was fun, I was looking forward to going to work... — read more
There is no winning in Layoffs
Layoffs are not fun for anyone and they are never going to be done "right". I am currently sitting on an amazing team where we should be hearing our fates today. If we are lucky that is. In order to keep things from being released before plan, upper... — read more

NDE tomorrow
NDE will be hit tomorrow. Unclear how many, but it's coming with 100% certainty. Check the conference room schedule in WL and DS. Conference rooms are blocked all day. Good luck.
30 years at Nike and I got the ax
I was let go today after 30 years. I agree with most. In my 30 years I have had some good and bad mangers. My last one was the worst. He did not have a clue what I did and he is nothing but a brown noser. I have been on both sides of the table and... — read more
If you thought today was bad... (WHQ)
Tomorrow WHQ will be hit with the hammer. Pretty much everyone with feel and see it around campus's tomorrow. HR, security and legal being last to go next round. (unsure of date)
Are "retirement" perks part of the package
More than 60 points gets basic 'retirement' perks (primarily discount shopping). Anyone know if that's part of the package. If it is, my hand is raised high. (OK, my hand is raised anyway. Just curious).
Why no WARN?
I thought Oregon required a WARN notice be filed 60 days in advance for layoffs of over 100 people. I haven't seen one for Nike.
ETW impact
Is this affecting the contractors as well? Usually they're the first to get hit. Or they being hired in greater numbers to offset the employees?
Anybody else hit?
I see Chicago was hit hard, but I am not hearing anything about other locations? Anybody has any info?

Lack of efficiency at Nike is glaring

Monday Layoffs

Nike used to be a great place to work.
The issue at Nike is bad management. Constant change in direction, shifting sand management style. IT engineers are promoted to leadership without the leadership skills. It is about who you know and not a merit based system. I saw a manager get... — read more
