Career advancements

Being stuck in a career rut is nothing unusual at Intel. Almost everyone tells me that I should leave at early signs of stagnation. I am interested in those who, despite limited opportunities to grow a career here, still managed to progress. Is... — read more

Why IDM will fail!

Intel IDM dominance came to be not because Intel had some right or special talent but all pure luck being selected for x86 PC by IBM and after that because of the Wintel monopoly. There were many companies with superior technology but didn’t have... — read more

Why are some convinced that there will be no cuts?

I hope for the best, but I still wouldn't be so sure that there won't be any cuts. As far as I've noticed, the arguments given by those who think there won't be are mostly based on promises coming from top dogs. Who still believes in such... — read more

Layoffs

In all company meeting Pat said there is no layoff now and just slowing the hiring. I see a lot of people complain about intel. My question is if you don’t enjoy why do you stay? Work in place you enjoy. With this mentality I can say you might not... — read more

Bring it on, baby!

If the layoff news turns out to be true, I'll be happy to take one for the team. I've been wanting to leave this place for years but I always seem to find reasons to stay (yes, I'm a coward and I keep chickening out). Intel paying me to leave would... — read more

Is it actually coming?

All this talk of layoffs, delays, down sizing etc, but has anybody actually heard anything concrete about a similar layoff as 2015 / 16 or any pending job cuts? Its all just speculation at the minute??

Dominating managers

Some managers only know how to force their will on their employees. If you look different even more so. They probably never heard of a thing called collaboration.

Anyone know what’s up? The whole “contract employee vs. normal employee” conversation. Overhiring? Understaffing? Contract employees joining normal employee’s groups to take their jobs?

People waiting to be laid off

How much longer until activist investors get on the board?

Will depend on the stock price. If it goes below $30, there will be enormous pressure on the board to fire Pat. Pat will have no one to blame but himself. Under his tenure, the stock has dropped over 40% already. His strategy is foolhardy.
