Us Salary Program Meetings

Any word on the US salary program manager meetings taking place? Are they teaching us how to break the bad news to folks but make it seem like we should just be lucky to have a job?

Hot desking! Call it what it is! Thoughts?

Since there hasn't been any formal SURVEY (?) feedback opportunity provided to the employees impacted directly by it. Let's all post it here!!! Free form! Get busy folks and share you feelings. I hate it! But is that the goal?

Wells Town Hall (AM session)

woof…….flustered much? I like ‘ol RH, but man, him and the host were completely flustered when discussing anything pay related. Anyway, if Wells isn’t getting decent raises this EOY, the rest of YOUS GUYS is screwed. In Summary: — read more

What is the plan for Midland? Almost no development next year as there is no more acreage! Are they going to get rid of people or buy some acreage from someone else?

Finance Functions

Why are so many people resigning from the Finance functions? Attrition is >50% in some teams!!! It doesn’t make sense that we’re not acting to keep some of the talent walking out the door everyday!!!!

Transfer to another group

At one time I approached my manager about the possibility of transferring to another group. That never happened. On the other hand, some here obviously manage very easily to join a group in which they would prefer to work. What are your... — read more

It's not all managers' fault

We've seen it all too often: when a manager asks an employee to do their job, they're labeled as "abusive." But when did that become the new normal? Today's workforce is so used to getting coddled and praised for doing the bare minimum that... — read more

Leaving

I am leaving and would appreciate the help. I’ll tolerate the sass. I would like the best info on the process of notice, access to benefits pages after separation, and of course how to manage the pension. I also going to sorely miss the vacation... — read more

Who is being acquired?

Exxon is sitting on over $32G in cash. They aren’t paying the employees more so who is getting bought? Hess Marathon Diamondback Others? What else would they do with all that cash with inflation so high?

Dealing with favoritism

My boss obviously favors a person who is nothing but a lazy mediocrity, thus giving the rest of us the impression that our hard work and knowledge are completely unappreciated. I don't have a good answer for this, but lately it's been pushing me... — read more

Baton Rouge looses best engineering manager

Yes,they finally get it right and he quits. Proof positive good people and good managers don’t stand a chance. Exxon makes yet another big mistake letting a good one go. I have to wonder if he wasn’t promoted just to give the bad ones a sacrificial... — read more

Work smart instead of hard

If you put forth a lot of effort, your bosses will probably take advantage of you and ask you to assist lazy employees by doing work that is supposedly above their capacity. Doing that will provide you with nothing useful. I should know, I've been... — read more

Benefits of EM supervisors and managers

People often under-estimate EM supervisor's or manager's influence on a project. By taking a active role in the project.... it took twice as long to complete, cost three time more than it was budgeted for, and was four times likelier to fail... — read more

Pay change.

Wtf is going on with switching paydays. I heard part of a meeting but that's it.

Some accepted lower paid jobs

My level of frustration here is still not high enough to accept a smaller paycheck, but I am beginning to understand more and more those who did it and left EM as soon as possible. Health has no price. I wonder what percentage of those who left... — read more

Confusing job titles

EM has confusing job titles. To add to the confusion, responsibilities are often vague and don’t line up anything that is needed. What exactly do the following people do? Advisor on on special assignment? Market Development? Business Manager? — read more

Effective reinvention of EM - is it possible?

If EM can't drastically reinvent itself, the company will simply fade away over the next 20 years, like other once great companies which at one point in their history missed the opportunity to make the right turn (Kodak, Nokia, etc.). The “last... — read more
