Where is good on the expat circuit still? Any good locations left?

Definitely Bangalore. Do the same work as in Houston, and reap in nice benefits. Milk that company as much as you can and brag about all the expat benefits at every opportunity. Greed has no limits.
Go to Bangalore and train your replacement.
Stay away from Baton Rouge. Plenty openings but it’s a dumpster fire. So many people quit that they are running out of people to blame for mess ups. Even managers are feeding on their own kind.
@1qcs ask your sister. She'll understand.
@1yur Tell me you’re American without telling me you’re American.
Expat benefits have been reduced, but it's still so much better than the Campus. What a cr@ppy place that is.
@1yyf+1 Who said anything about camels?
As an upstream EM engineer I was offered several expat assignments, but the money was not worth uprooting my family. Also, having spoken to several expats, they often complained about working endless hours. Forget that…. Instead, I rotated month on- month off or what is called 28/28, working in many different countries (>25) with Houston being my home base. 28/28 is the best deal in the oilfield, making great money while only working 1/2 a year. On my time off I took a part time job making even more $.
Forget the expat assignment, there is no money in it and the hours are endless. Go for 28/28 and enjoy your time off and fat paycheck.
Company has stripped them, it's honestly better now for your pocketbook (and career), to stay in Houston.
If you want to travel and live abroad, that's the only reason to go anymore.
All need to be viewed cautiously. Many of the assignments now require some amount of out-of-pocket funding by the employee. Make sure you ask to see the package amount before you accept. Also, ask to speak with a current expat that is already in the assignment location. They should be willing to give you a realistic view of any issues.
No camels in Bangalore D*mba$$.
Bangalore. Pack your camel saddle.
Benefits cut and any assistance for your assignment is run out of a low cost center so it pretty much sucks.
