Leave on my own, or wait to get cut?

I understand that none of these two options are ideal, especially given the fact that I don’t have a new job lined up or anything. On the other hand, it’s getting harder and harder for me to continue working at this place, and not just in terms of... — read more

Is my BNY pension save here?

Who can recommend what to do with pension I earned in BNY. Is it save to take annuity? Is it possible to take lump sum and transfer it to traditional IRA to avoid huge taxes?

So How Is This Better?

My computer and various systems stop working randomly throughout the week as I’m trying to provide that excellent client service Charlie wants us to give. Trying to get them fixed is an exercise in patience/insanity. I sit on the same broken chair... — read more

Broken

Whether you are legacy BONY/Mellon or BNYM - you know this is a broken place with frustrated and tired employees. The break started with Bob Kelly, Charlie has just widening the gap. We are an animal slowly dying, and Charlie is burying us a piece at... — read more

How much saved?

How much you all have saved in your 401s? I want to retire.

I want out

What do I need to do...? Mid 60s, almost 10 years, BE ( manager was ‘forced’ WTF...how do I get on the ‘list’ .? I’ve had it. What a disorganized white low morale environment. I feel bad for the younger guys. Any advice?...

Being stuck at BNYMELLON

Only reason I stay is the tuition reimbursement. Just finished my MBA. Need to stay one more year so I don't have to pay any tuition money back. Going to be the longest 12 months of my life.

What's next?

And more importantly, when will it end? At least for this week?

The org chart turned upside down

Here is a good tip for those still at bny Mellon trying to make sense of things. When you are in Mysource looking at the org chart, read it from the bottom up, instead of from the top down. The managers don’t manage the team that’s under them. ... — read more

Got a BE

Got a BE because I “can’t handle criticism in a constructive manor”. Screw that, I’ve literally never not taken constructive criticism well. Honestly I think my manager is just trying to get rid of me and is making things up

INVESTED IN YOUR SUCCESS

as the dump continues to let go large numbers of employees, they continue to email job posting with the headline “INVESTED IN YOUR SUCCESS”. This place is never short on propaganda.

I HATE MY JOB

That’s all. I had a job and achievements that I enjoyed, then during a reorg I was told to do a different job. No choice. I’ve been doing that for a while now, and I hate it, and it hates me. Looking to move on, but until then.... I HATE MY... — read more

Multiple BEs in a row

I’ve gotten a BE for the last 7 reviews I’ve received. How likely will I be laid off? I just recently changed apartments and this one costs a bit more so can’t really afford to be jobless

Mid year BE review nonsense

For those who received BE reviews and got let go, how many BE ratings did you get prior to being let go? I just received my first one after more than 10 years and was shocked. I’m wondering if the mid year reviews count less than the final year end... — read more

Layoff on Vacation

Will HR call you if you get let go during vacation? Was hoping to get a phone call, but nothing yet.

FALLOUT

I am sorry when people are laid off. And the fallout keeps getting worse for those that remain. It’s not just the work load, taking on more work as people are let go. Its the knowledge gaps, messy reorganization, confused management, broken... — read more

How are things going in Pittsburgh? Are they getting hit at all? I feel like Pittsburgh is no longer the cheap labor location it once was and therefore prime for massive layoffs. Whereas, Oriskany NY probably is going to be a benefactor of... — read more

Over 200 across the Corp

I at least knew I was being cut since my department was eliminated, got the official letter yesterday. From what I heard it was around 225 corporate-wide who were getting shown the door. I’m sure that they’re cutting headcount in advance of a sale. — read more

Good News

Based on increasing demand the external BNY Mellon 401K web site is now back up and running after a brief 5 month hiatus. www.bnymellon401k.com One less thing to worry about for those who have been displaced.
