2015 AT&T Layoffs - The Path That Never Ends

We like to cut managers, that’s our specialty and that’s what AT&T will continue doing in 2015 and beyond. They like to target managers as they have a lot of tenure, they have good salaries and they also, as they depart, open up promotion opportunities for more junior staff. Over last few decades we developed a fat structure of middle management in all aspects of the company. A few years back the execs came up with a plan to cut 10,000 employees over 3 hears and the results was a literal onslaught and constant layoffs of AT&T managers of different levels. I was at San Antonio at the time and I can tell you that it was not funny watching folks who spent 20, 25 years with the company leave in tears.

I fell into that category with no explanation of the true why. They give you the speech that you can stay and apply for other jobs only to realize that if you make a certain amount of money you still will not be considered for other opportunities. This is truly so sad for a company that's brags about being a family when after its all said and done you are nothing but a dollar sign
