Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

COR Retail Layoffs

Has anyone heard any rumors of if or when COR retail locations might have layoffs? Ignite seems designed to turn COR stores into AR locations, especially level 1 and rural locations. Anyone think this will happen before the end of the year?

Big IGNITE day tomorrow. Got to stand around in the AR box until I sell a TV. Can’t leave until I sell one. Meanwhile, my store falls farther behind on YOY growth.

Hopefully IGNITE will lead to leadership getting fired. Sending AT&T managers to work at a separate entity (an AR door) is co-employment and violates a lot of laws, because if a shady RSM shoes the AR seller a shady practice, now AT&T is on the hook and legally indemnified. Telling an RSM that they cannot leave the AR door until a Premium Video is submitted also violates co-employment. As well as bringing AR to townhall meetings, including in incentives and pushing ARSMs to work for Prime.

Tenured ARSMs have been positioned to oversee AR, at least in the GLA market. Ignite is aligned with the 2020 goal.

Any city that is large enough to have an NFL team based out of is so likely to have very large retail stores (flagship)

What does the NFL have to do with it?

The rule of thumb is if your COR store is located in a town with an NFL team, you will stay a COR location in 2020. If your store is anywhere else, start making nice with you local AR district manager, you may be an RAE in the near future. Brian Shay is propping up Prime Communication to get first dibs at choice COR spots.

I’m just trying to figure out if it is worth trying to hang around for a severance or go ahead and get out now

More likely next year, IGNITE is definitely there to train the AR people to take our jobs. This has been in the works for a long time from what I hear, and you can see how AR is fully functioning like COR, not that most of the people that work there act it-they send every non sale issue to COR. AR comes to the Town Halls, are on our conference calls, are getting trained by COR managers- nobody wants to hear it or believe it, but if you’ve been around long enough and been a RAM OR RAE, you knew this would happen years ago- everyone always said in 2020. For those who think the company won’t survive without COR stores is delusional. They’ll keep flagship and high profit locations, the rest will be sold off or leased or whatever to AR, Prime most likely.
