Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The biggest threat to AT&T

The biggest threat to AT&T will be the inability to jettison landline telephone, as in jettison old technologies. The debt is slowly coming down, and now with the Federal Reserve reversal, interest rates aren't going up, good for companies with large debt. Right now, the market is betting on rates coming down.

The market monitor on Nightly Business Report recommended AT&T stock last Friday. I've been saying buy it at $30 and below - at around $32, I'm a bit more neutral. Part of the situation would be whether or not a stockholder's income situation is receptive to tax advantaged dividend income.

Good point from @ZulUg0J-1ocn.

MSFT Microsoft is a much safer and stronger buy than T. It will continue to grow thanks to their cloud strategy and brilliant CEO. T - can't think of any analysts recommending that as a buy!!!! Investors Business Daily (the premier stock daily news source) in fact recommends AGAINST buying T.

The biggest threat to this corporation are Randall and his Johns. Anyone investing significant money in this fiscally irresponsibly managed company long term is taking an excessive risk with their money.

People who think this is still a stable, conservatively managed utility that you can base your retirement on need to wake up and realize exactly what they're investing in.

The only people profiting from Randy's foolhardy acquisition escapades are him and his buddies at the top. Not the investors, not the customers, and certainly not the employees of this company.

AT&T is filled Lies in their promos, bundles, and borderline illegal contracts, the can change the price anytime they want, you can't sue them, it is in rge fine print, to sign for those services, and when you want to cancel you have to pay even more.

Got some flyers recently and the cable companies are offering voice service for around 10 per month if it is bundled with another service. Almost becoming a freebie give away.

playing with fire, let day traders deal with AT&T, for the rest of you long term with a history of bad deals Analysts warn investors should be picky with regard to high-dividend payers, such as AT&T is borrowing cash to pay for them instead of basing the payout on earnings.

An interest rate hike from the U.S. Federal Reserve widely expected could signal the beginning of the end of the dividend run for AT&T on Wall Street. A Fed rate hike would increase Treasury yields, diminishing the comparable attractiveness of stocks.

“As you see the prospect of a rate hike come into play, then these stocks don’t necessarily decline but they stop going up and they sort of level off and go, are yiu ready to impact your principal? good luck!

T stock is paying a 6.9% dividend.(CD's pay 1 or 2 %) If they cut the dividend, I will sell. Why would you "pray for a T crash?" They are sending you a paycheck every 2 weeks.

I would submit that the biggest threat to AT&T is the current chairman & his team of direct reports.
