Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

IHX Layoffs?

We have heard rumors about this happening ever since word came out that we would be voting to join the CWA. Does anyone know if this is true? We do have a call Tuesday with our DOS and than right after we have a call with the vp.

The union is worthless. They endorsed a socialist for president in 2016, that should tell you everything you need to know about the union.

I wish I could recommend you guys joining the union, but for us Prem Slaves the union has been completely worthless. We pay dues every paycheck so the old timers can get excellent excellent union pay and representation while we remain an appendix to the contract and get the shaft.

Go ahead with your team and vote "no" then. Bye. Not sure if the CWA needs a bunch of door to door salesmen. Every IHX I have ever met was a surplussed manager trying to cling to employment with AT&T for some reason. New hires in IHX don't last 1 week before they say "phuck this chit" and bail.

I just took two months off paid parental leave with commission paid and all as an in home expert. No CWA contract includes that! The best you get is 2 weeks of short term disability and then unpaid FMLA. I also can get off early if my daughter has a school event and we all look out for each other. In retail everything was seniority based and the union only helped the lazy people and even then they didn’t have it near as good as IHX. Let them go to a vote I know my whole team would vote hell no.

The union itself would not make it where IHX would lay off but the union would have very little leverage in contract negotiations because unlike retail or techs, it has little customer impact for a strike. Sadly, I think it would just make the employee experience worse — micromanaging behaviors constantly to have documentation in case numbers aren’t there, less flexibility on scheduling due to seniority and bidding rules, and an instant demotion from level 1A to 0 in the management scale.

The whole point of IHX was to circumvent union store sales reps by making the position a "management" position. You really think T is just going to let you unionize? They would rather eliminate the position while you're still considered "management" and unprotected and invent some other fake position to barge into people homes. Heck the way things are going they'll just "train" techs to sell their cell phones like they sell all their other junk and I use the term "train" here very loosely as lately its just a pdf for whatever the company wants techs to do in addition to what they already do.

Makes no sense for IHX to go union. You'll prob get a sh--ty contract like the prems and you wont have any severance pay. Lower wages plus union dues. Definitely not worth going union.
