Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

"Don't Rehire" flag from social media (LinkedIn) comment?

I once noticed that an AT&T social media VP looked at my LinkedIn profile are commenting on a post that tried to put a positive spin on T as an investment. In essence I wrote that the article was all fine and dandy if you were looking for an income (dividend) investment, but not a growth one.

Do you think company executives would be petty enough to monitor social media and take note of former employees - ahem - cynical views about the company's direction? Not that I give a lick, I already collected my severance and earned compensation so I owe them nothing.

@ZtBsl1U-ien I guess you should be banned from re-hire since you call employees "twits" on social media. I guess that answers your question.

Oh wow, you must be young or not up to speed. All big co's that are in the public market mind social media - especially of their employees. Often there are policies written about this and updated every single year - net net, you cannot post anything negative about a company you work for while you are still working for them or under an express agreement during a lay-off period our if you ever wanted to be rehired - this is a hug "no no," especially out on high visibility sites such as linked.

@ZtBsl1U-vka: "To be fair, you're post sounds petty. Why'd you post on there publicly if you didn't want anyone reading it?" - To be honest, you're a twit, and probably a piece of a two-part problem: employees who tell their bosses only what they want to hear, and bosses who wish to hear only what they want.

If you can point to any evidence of T as a growth company instead of a dividend zombie to counter my opinion, go right ahead. Otherwise, your reply is even pettier since it doesn't even have a hint of a simple "yes" or "no", but instead a deflection.

My guess is there aren't enough employees in HR to officially do that as their job. Not to say there aren't some trolling around. But I bet it's not like an official thing. I was in HR for two (very long) years and they were hot as much as anybody.
