Life will still go on. But, with any job loss, it's a hit, it hurts on every level. Just leave as a employee and a customer, if able. Once I got my craft walking papers, I never given them a red cent. I make 15% less per year, and I'm happy. I have a life. Can't believe I did that to myself for 17 years.
Sure is nice that Kansas isn't involved in any of these so called surpluses. Hope everyone else able to retire of find work away from T.
And bumping does not work like so many think it does. Just because you have employees in your own WC with less time means nothing. If they are not on the bump sheet, they aren't affected by your surplus. It gets involved and HR will do what's easiest for them, not necessarily what is " contractual " and/or in your best interest.
Staffing makes up their own rules during these surpluses and it’s basically whatever makes their job the easiest regardless of what’s in the contract. Nobody really knows if FT’s/ST’s or OPT’s can bump wire/prem techs.
True, how the 10% rule work? Is it per surplus, or a total percentage based on this and previous surpluses? I believe if it's a total than they could not bump prem techs at all.
C&E surplus is the specific title that might be hit but in reality this could be looked at as a outside tech surplus due to their bumping rights.
Try a little primal screaming in the crew room, very therapeutic. And much more productive than worrying about things you have no control over. It's not like this is a out of the blue suprise for anyone.
1gjr, web admins here don’t care about the numbers posted or its accuracy. They remove posts that contain personal info or foul language. So if you put that in the same post that contains numbers, it will get nuked.
The leaked list they are referring to, came out months ago. It has been very accurate so far as far as numbers and districts. That's how we know for sure there us a C&E surplus happening this week.

Management was told on the 31st and the unions have all known the numbers since the 5th but aren’t releasing them until Friday. We’ve been told it could be very big and also that it may be pretty minor from management, so it’s hard to know what to believe.
The leaked SE C but, that's the target number we are expecting.

The wildcard is whether others have been added to this list from other groups. The probability is good that, that has happened.

What are inspectors? Originally they were the linemen left after the District 4 and the Company contracted out our linework around 2005 in the Midwest. So they became part of the old conduit dept. Basically they smoke a lot of c-gare--es and check on jobs that the contractors place. Rumor is most of them will be going back to splicing.
So, does that mean inspectors will bump low seniority splicers?
