Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

At&t doesnt care about employees, especial prem techs.

Ive seen more than half the people ive worked with quite in prem tech world over 9 years time, the ones that took manager jobs were fired. No one makes it to retirement. Company doesnt care about employees or a positive work environment. Any contact beyond 2nd level area manager is negative. They are years away from a functional 5g network and theyve bleed out their work force. Every manger ive know has been fired after years of being over worked and under appreciated. These were at one time awesome techs with knowledge that is being lost. Those of us left in the field are worked to the point we want to quit. Leave the house my kids are asleep. Get home theyre going to bed. Any level one or two management interaction is pathetic because they know their time is up. Only reason i keep going is because its paying the bills, feel satisfaction that im providing good service and smoothing out the failings of our leadership and sales organization that pushes their sales incentives over quality customer care and quality products. Customers and employees are more than a number on the spreadsheet to a bigger bottom line. Employees are shareholders too. Treat us with the care you treat your shareholders.

My understanding of some of the Prem tech issues is they were brought in at their pay rate to compete against the companies already providing those services. They were not going to stand up a brand new business using a premium wage against the competition. In my region the same logic was used when they brought some of the locate work in house. Union didn’t like the pay scale but wanted the jobs. The Prem tech surpluses seem to be more of a function of getting rid of the Uverse product at some point in the future. They stopped all advertising and per the comments on this board the company is going to stop selling it, even at locations that have the service currently, if they are vacated. The hours and subsequently their pay has taken a big hit in a lot of areas. The F2 facilities are now being directed to bonded pair broadband. Falls in line with the Osprey product that should come out next quarter.

Yep, this is why the company continues to notch wins while the union and its members continue to notch losses. Look at all the infighting just on this board. Union members attacking union members, especially prem techs. The old adage “divide and conquer” has never been more relevant as it pertains to what’s going on this board. Oh and keep voting republican, managers and union employees alike, and then wonder why your middle class jobs keep getting eroded. Your voting your own rights and income away you mo--ns.

I got out of the Army started as a PT then WT then to a management job cough cough. T was such a joke, yes I come here every now again when I need a laugh. Still have buddies stuck at that hellhole. I used to get a kick how badly managers treated techs and the sh-- second levels would pull was absolutely illegal. I used to look at some of these fat b--tards making threats, scaring techs and would think I k--led people better than these f---s. The games and threats were relentless. Anyway I moved to greener pastures and yes the grass is greener believe me. Just have to have the balls to jump even if you have to take a step back to move forward. Corporate sociopathy is the culture there.

FT’s and ST’s or whoever you are want to keep bantering pPrem Tech but show no solitude, brotherhood, no respect or take up for them. Your just as much to blame as the union.

Want to blame someone/something? Blame your Unions for accepting this title of Prem Techs to bring in more dues. Greedy. Prem Tech get less wages, benefits and are mistreated as allowed by their Appendix in the Contract. "Fight Back" ..... time to bring Union leadership up to date with accountability. Union leadership gets paid 6 figures....why can't we get more educated, up to date leaders?????

Really don’t understand why some I&R techs go out of their way to s—t on prem techs at every opportunity. Prem techs just trying to make a living.

Disappointing to witness the division intentionally created by the corporation. And the employees who revel in the division is equally disheartening.

They hate their employees almost as much as they do their customers.

Should 'a worked here when the WWII boys were here. You'd be fetching coffee all day long, and never touch a tool until they decided you could.

In 1978 I went in to the bosses office with a gripe.

He told me to get out of his office and get to work.

A few years later, another boss told me “In to each life some rain must fall. The power company is hiring.”

This is nothing new.

Why do you new folks expect to be treated with kid gloves?
