NO! Not just unclear, but invisible! My TSR is lowered every year for no explainable reason and when I apply for positions and HR approves me to be interviewed only men are interviewed!!

In retail it’s as follows:

1.) Be shady and non-transparent with customers

2.) Get accolades for sales

3.) Get promoted to assistant store manager, make less than you did as a shady rep and get worse shifts/more responsibility

4.) Convince yourself that being a retail cell phone and dying subscription television service sales manager in a dead shopping plaza is something that anyone would have said they wanted to be “when they grew up” and that you are a legitimate businessman with a posh operation.

5.) Gloat about your pay (sub 100K/year lol).

6.) Actually make about the same as you did as a rep with more hours, worse hours and salary, be on-call or be seen as non-commited. Develop a need for anxiety meds and laxatives.

7.) Get continually passed up on ARSM positions because you don’t make for a good diversity story

8.) Eventually become ARSM (maybe) or love laterally through the various channels

9.) Hit ceiling for most part

10.) 15 years later, look back on a life lived of half truths and a-- kissing

11.) Congrats?

The path heads straight for one big dumpster fire.

My path is clear. Stay under the radar for another 8 months and I can retire.

Yes, my career path is very clear to me. Sit quietly and wait for a surplus with severance package and then invest my time and energy toward a more impactful pursuit.

@Zr3rE46-1cqr You want AT&T to be like Uber? Uber lost $1B just in Q1 2019. Uber owns no assets, just an app (that anyone could duplicate) that loses money that the market realizes has no strategy to be profitable. That's why the stock plunged even before it's IPO opened, and is still below the IPO price they set.

{We're still "connecting everyone where they live, work and play"...with T1's, DS0s, and bvoip all over copper....I'm humbled to be a part of the team building the bridge to the future...full steam ahead to 2020}

Down vote all you want, but I think you all are being punked and took the bait, swallowed the hook too. T1's, Ds0, copper Bvoip...

Do you even network bro?

+1 hahahaha. Promotions and career paths.... I really needed a good laugh this evening....they disappeared about 5-7 years ago, it is who your so called network or friends - who you know, determining your progression in this new at&t.

What career path? What promotions?

What company do you work for?

AT&T is focused on being a “disrupter” this year. But rather than releasing products that are disrupters (like the next Netflix or Uber) it’s focused on promoting leaders that disrupt productivity. Hey, you’re a project manager? Why don’t you start driving 3 hours a day into an office where you need to spend an hour setting up your workspace, another hour chitchatting with other disgruntled ATO workers, then watch some Leading with Distinction videos and then time to get your 10,000 steps with the locals at the office. Finally, update your resume for the last hour of the day because your miserable. Don’t worry, your leader is doing the same thing instead of developing a well oiled machine. #disruptersgonnadisrupt

Look for skills and opportunities that allow you to find a better job outside the company.
